Yeah the Vikings blunder really speeded the draft up there for a couple of minutes. More teams need to goof up like that.
That Wisconsin game was the one that stood out in my mind. He repeatedly fell down backpedaling and looked real bad in coverage, and he wasn't exactly going up against the St. Louis Rams passing attack. In the Fiesta, I rember in the first quarter, Johnson repeatedly beating his man and then the help defender (doss) in the first half. Then in the second, I don't know if he was covering winslow, I hope not for his sake. I'm not saying he's a baad player, he can do a lot of things well, I just don't think he's a good fit for the texans or a team that needs a saftey who cann cover like a corner. Who knows if I'm right.
If I'm Kevin Williams, I'd demand 7th pick money. The Vikings are stupid. They almost lose "their guy" , piss him off, and didn't acquire any additional picks to drop back.
Yet another long holdout in store for the vikings after last year's eerily similar fiasco. They are rapidly becoming a joke of an organization.
uhh, at least it was cable. Along those lines, maybe somebody should tell EA sports that they shouldn't have a thuggish murdering felon as their spokesman
Very pleased to have A.Johnson should help out immediately. Dude wore a T-mac Jersey at the draft very odd to anything other than a suit. If McGahee slips to the 2nd round its a no brainer but I doubt it will happen. Maybe Lee Sugg? If not maybe Mike Doss would work. It will probaly be OL not neccasary a bad thing but they should find another impact player whether its on defense or offense.
The Pats just reached I think, I would have taken Boss Bailey, the best , top rated LB, rather than the 5th DT (warren, after Robertson, Sullivan, Williams, Kennedy)
For the texans next round, I like OT's G.Foster or W.Hunter, RB's Musa Smith, O.Smith, L.Johnson, or an OLB/DE type.
sorry, a thuggish obstructor of justice who testified against his thuggish murdering friends as part of a pleabagain.
If its good enough for one smiling nfl great pitchman (who was actually acquitted) it's good enough for Lewis. Only he knows what happened in that scuffle of course, but whatever it was, I have a feeling it wasn't good.
I think Rogers will have more of an immediate impact, but Johnson could end up being the better player. Or just as good. Certainly better than anything the Texans had last year.
STARS make the team. You draft in this order: QB, WR, RB, OL, C, CB, DE, LB, DT, TE, S, ST, K, PR. The three most important. QB, WR, RB. If those guys are your main men, you can then start working on your depth. You OL could be the best in the league, but if your WR can't get open, or catch the ball, what's the point? The STARS make the team. Period. Aikman, Smith, Irving. Young, Rice, Watters (add Sanders). Elway, Sharpe, Davis. These were the most exciting, yet dominating teams to watch. Winners too! Sure, you can go the Green Bay way also, with Farve, Sharpe, and Levens. The core group were the stars. Sure, defenders can be stars too, but they are not as important as the QB, RB and/or WR. By the way, I know what you are going to say..."The OL needs to protect your QB, so that he will be able to pass in the first place..." Sure, but you need stars. Period. We have 3-4 years to build up the roster/depth. Getting a "star" RB/WR this high (3rd pick) will not be there next year. We'll get better, and will not get a high pick next year. But supplemental players like OL/DE/DT will be there in the next few years. If we get Larry Johnson, OH MAN! Watch out!!!! We got our core offense attack!
I wouldn't be so quick to leap to the conclusion that Hou wont have a high pick next year. They'll probly have a top 5 pick, top 10 at worst(or best, however you would like to word it )
Yes, you're right. But we could get some good OL, C, DT in that spot (5th to 10th). But it's not the same as the 1,2,3 pick. Lots of power in those picks.
