He is gonna be a #2/3 receiver, he can still return kicks. Desean Jackson, Wes Welker, Mo Jones-Drew, Eddie Royal, Fred Jackson, Jerricho Cotchery, Josh Cribbs, Jamaal Charles, etc are all starters that also take care of returning duties.
And? What does that have to do with Jacoby? Holliday was drafted to be our KR/PR, so Jacoby can focus on being a complete WR this year. He showed up last year and had more TDs than the likes of Boldin. Now, with all of those guys you listed, did their respective teams draft or have anyone on their roster that they use specifically for KR/PR like the Texans will with Holliday? Nope.
i'm not a big mcclain fan at all. but to be fair...did anyone else have the chargers trading up to get matthews?? mock drafts in general are a joke...not just mcclain's.
I can't edit my post, but it's not like Jacoby will not return any punts or kickoffs, but he'll do it only a few times a year if Holliday proves to be legit.
If Holliday shows up and return the ball well...Jacoby should completely focus on being a WR because the dude stepped up his game last season and can actually become a legit and reliable receiver on this team. Coming out of his school, they said it would take some time for him to develop, and it definitely seems like he is on that track.
Whenever Davis got the ball, we provided good coverage. He just ran straight into a scrum and didn't want to provide any effort in running after.
Maybe it's just me, but Jacoby dropped too many passes last year for me to think he's reliable at WR.
He just needs to work on being cool and breathing after full effort runs like 'Dre and not throwing up...but yea nobody is as good. Jacoby showed some ability, and I think his consistency will get better as well..
I don't remember too many. Jacoby needs to be in there over David Anderson though. The defense starts falling over themselves when Jacoby catches the ball in open space. He's that big of a threat. His fumbling problem has gone way down, too.
I agree. Those catches Anderson gets 10 or 12yds on Jacoby can take the same play for 20+. If he works hard enough he could be a legit #2 wr. Hopefully kubiak lets him still return punts and let Holliday return kickoffs.
I feel the opposite. It seemed to me that whenever the ball was thrown to Jacoby, he caught it. This has been the last couple of years, so I see Jacoby as a reliable receiver. But that's just from observations, no stats or anything
Here's our new boy, Mr. Sharpton, from the camera of Ben Tate. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=795995291961
I agree, maybe a couple seasons ago he dropped the ball, but I don't remember him dropping much at all this past year, he did make some spectacular catches though.
Just from memory I thought he dropped a some crucial 3rd down passes this past year, maybe that's why it sticks out more.
JJ dropped less than 7 balls last year as he wasn't amongst the league leaders. The league leaders tended to have a lot more receptions, though. Walter, Slaton, Anderson, and Daniels all were in the top 20 in catch% for the AFC.

About Ryan Mathews being scared of coming to Houston, he went to the same college as David Carr and grew up in Bakersfield also; probably heard the bad experience and the whole H-town turning on Carr. Maybe that's why he was apprehensive of coming here. Mathews wouldn't want beer poured on his family if he was having a bad game.
That only happens after a bad career, not a bad game. I guess Mathews knows something San Diego doesnt. I was getting scared about the whole Ryan Mathews coming to Houston thing. I feel blessed and lucky that San Diego traded up to pick him.
