Our remaining picks are: 5 13(144) from Carolina through Kansas City 6 18(187) 6 28(197) from San Diego 7 20(227) Link Pugs
There is no offense lineman left that would make this team. Kubiak likes to keep 9 lineman on the roster and it's pretty much set. Duane Brown, Eric Winston, Rashad Butler, Kasey Studdard, Mike Briesel, Chris Myers, Antionio Caldwell, Wade Smith, and likely Chris White. This draft is considered pretty weak on offensive lineman after the first wave. Why would you draft a player if their isn't a good chance for him to make the team? I expect them to draft a lineman sometime soon for developmental purposes. They really like a undrafted center from LSU they had on the practice squad last named Brett Helms.
That TE in the 3rd isnt ours. You must be looking at the ESPN page and they still haven't updated it. We traded our second 3rd round pick to the Chiefs who selected that TE...thats why we had 2 picks in the 4th and a pick in the 5th
anyone who loves the Texans such as myself knows we always load up on TE's. 2 steps forward, 3 steps backwards. Hopefully they have a plan (again).
I don't understand the big deal with the Texans drafting 3 TEs the last 2 years. They spent two 4th round picks and a 5th round pick. The Patriots drafted a TE in the 2nd and 4th round this year. The Bengals drafted a TE in the 1st round this year and 3rd round last year. The Ravens drafted a TE in the 3rd round and 4th round this year. The Eagles drafted a TE in the 5th round last year and 4th this year.
I'm loving all of Houston's picks, I admit some of the guys I don't know much about i.e. Earl Mitchell, Darryl Sharpton... the Garrett Graham pick caught me by surprise but I'm assuming the injury to OD warranted another rookie TE. I would love for them to now look at helping AJ and taking Dezmon Briscoe, he looks super smooth on the field and has great height. Only knock on the guy is his speed. I'm most definitely lovin this pick... can I get some love? http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/...w;pageContainer
Leon Washington is a good player but he is coming off a major injury and wants a HUGE contract. So not a value on the trade market for the combination.
Yeah, because personnel decisions have definitely been the problem with the Texans, it's not as if Smith's plan has loaded this roster with talent over the past 3-4 years... Texans aren't a perfect franchise, but to describe them as "2 steps forward, 3 steps backward" from a personnel standpoint in the Smith era is just ridiculous.
McManis was a productive, three-year starter for Northwestern. He has a good combination of size and strength but lacks elite athleticism for the position. He runs well but lacks great quickness in transition and lateral agility. McManis has solid instincts in zone coverage but can lose leverage when in man schemes. He is limited at times in opening his hips to turn and run deep with top receivers. He isn't an explosive athlete but shows range once he gets going. He is a willing run-support defender but isn't physical and misses too often in space. McManis has some tools to build on, with decent return skills, but he lacks talent to contribute much as a rookie.
Nice pickup. Sherrick McManis has good size, ran a 4.48 at the combine which is solid. He also had 5 interceptions this past year and he missed 3 games.
I read a lot of teams view him as a FS - which would make sense when you see that man coverage is a weakness and zone/instincts are a strength.
I agree, we also signed FA TE Gaines (Browns) ... Daniels, Dreessen, Hill, Casey, Gaines and now we drafted another TE? Is Daniels on the way out or what?
