I'm not saying Gerhart is better than Tate. I just don't see him being an elite running back, nor do I think in his first year Jackson will be much better than Dunta was last year.
call me crazy but I think anyone would be better than Dunta was last year. Guy was horrible in coverage and repeatedly got burned for first down after first down if it wasn't a home run hit.
Well, how many elite players were picked after we selected? Its not like you look at any of these 3rd rounders and think, "dang, that team got a pro-bowler at the 87th pick". Fact is that we selected players that fill the needs of the team. We needed a CB, RB, and DT...and we got those players. Whether they are perennial pro-bowlers or not, we dont know...but Im sure the Texans are pretty confident in the players they selected.
The Chiefs 4th (which is the 4th pick in the round) and the Chiefs 5th, which is also a pick that is high in the round.
Yeah we just won't know. I also feel Tate and Kareem are big upgrades over Chris Brown(Tate a MAJOR upgrade) and Kareem should play better than Dunta. We'll see.
well it was an interesting couple of rounds. I initially was shocked when we traded with the vikes to only have them select TG. I figured they traded with them because they thought TG would fall. Then, of course, when the vikes selected toby i was a little WTF?! But, I dont mind Tate by any means. And really, risk reward, Tate has more upside because he has that big play potential. I think it's a good pick, especially since they picked up an additional 3rd. I think Earl Mitchel is a good get, given what was out there. He is very explosive off the line. Certainly not a run stopper, but he has potential to fill that role that amobi. Plus, i'm never against adding a Wildcat Trading that end 3rd, i like. Move down a few spots and they can re-evaluate over the night. Plus you add an early 5th, which you can still get some good finds.
Don't really know what to think looking at the highlight real of Tate because of the BS offense they run. He didn't look that great, but I think he'll be a decent system back. I do like that we got some extra picks by moving down though.
Terry Tate - office linebacker  Golden Tate, the Notre Dame wide receiver, was picked a few spots after we took Ben Tate.
I liked the pick of Tate, looks we got a nice RB. and of Jackson NFL.com had it 8.3, Wilson was 8.4, so only .1 difference, its not that much, I think kareem is going to be good.
I would really stoked if the Texans drafted two from DE Everson Griffen, tackle Bruce Campbell, S Reshad Jones, DE Ricky Sapp, CB Perrish Cox, DE Corey Wootton, DT Cam Thomas, C Matt Tennant, or G Mitch Petrus in the 4th round. No more big areas of need and you could just draft the best guy available. You can never have enough defensive lineman/pass rushers and cornerbacks.
lulz. ry-wag made a funnie. unless you drafted jordan shipley. then your entire team can get the senior discount at denny's.
Well we have the 4th pick in the next round. I'm pretty sure one of those guys is going to be a Texan.
Speaking of senior discounts, do you think Brandon Crawford is going to get drafted on Saturday? It's hard to imagine a team using a draft pick on him. His best bet is to go undrafted and sign with a team as a free agent.
The scouting reports on all three of the Texan's picks so far are largely negative. One or two nice comments then a boatload of why they won't do much in the NFL. Very confusing.
You keep saying that...not sure what you are talking about. Show me something that says the Jackson pick wasnt good...or the Tate one.
