Earlier, I wanted Big Al...but now not anymore. This draft is too deep, a 3rd rounder is a big price to pay in THIS draft. Imagine we could get a Ben Tate in the 3rd round, and get a Terrance Cody or Brian Price in the 2nd... Earlier I would have been all for giving up a 3rd for a proven guy like Big Al...but this is a deep draft on paper, I would hold onto that 3rd round pick and the 2nd. I'd give them a 4th this year and a 3rd next though.
i'd give a third but no more. But you are right, texans could easily get a very talented RB & DT in rounds 2 and 3 if things pan out. Still, haynesworth potential is very tempting. You just don't know which haynes youre going to get. fat, happy, injured...or the beast.
3rd is valued at 175. 4th is valued at 62. 6th is valued a4 20. that deal is twice as worse for the titans.
What scouting reports have you been reading?? I have yet to see anything really negative written about him anywhere, and I've looked all over the place. And by large, Houston sports teams have done GREAT in the draft in recent times.....Brooks, Landry, Budinger, Cushing, Ryans, Mario, Slaton (before he got hurt) just to name a few.
Thats thing with Haynesworth, he's about as unknown as a rookie. I'd instead target Cody, who is the closest thing to Big Al you are going to get. Weighing about the same. Thing is with Cody though, you know he's a disciplined player who loves to play the game. I hope we have a shot at him, he's not quick but so what? We have Okoye for quickness, and Cody just screams big run stopping DT. I think he'd step right in, he'd give Okoye and Mario a lot of help, and also he gives guys like Cushing and Demeco more space to operate which should never be a bad thing. I really don't care about his stamina and possibly being a 2 down player. Okay so we stop the run on 2 downs and the 3rd would be a passing down any ways so slide Smith to inside with Okoye and put Barwin at the other end on 3rd and longs. I will be unhappy if we pass on Cody. Team wants to get physical, team wants to resemble the Ravens defense or the Titans D with Big Al...they both have/had big boys in the middle of their Dline. I also know their defensive schemes are different from ours. So i'm crossing my fingers Cody falls to us and we pick him up in the second. But i'm starting to think our coaching staff just doesn't like the big run stopping, gap plugging DTs.
Lol, why on Earth would the Titans agree to a 4th and 6th when a 3rd is already on the table?? The higher pick will yield them the better talent. Most 6th rounders are practice squad fodder anyways......basically, it'd just be a 4th rounder. This has not been one of your finer threads, dude.
Adam Schefter via Twitter: "Once again, told that Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth is not being traded. #nfldraft"
Good article on the Texans draft history under Rick Smith from the Galveston Daily News. http://galvestondailynews.com/story.lasso?ewcd=d290d02324aafcf5
Father Shanny just said on NFL Network that Fat Albert won't be traded. I'll watch the draft to see his fat ass moved to the hated Titans.
I don't think so. I guess he's expecting every single guy we draft to become a stud and top 5 at his position? Just last year he had a great draft. More than just Cushing. What about Quinn, Caldwell, and Barwin? All have contributed to this team. James Casey in the 5th? No these guys are not going to be perrennial pro-bowlers like Cushing has the chance to be, but these are solid players. Look at some teams and they only have one or two guys contributing from their team. Year before...Duane Brown is a starter, and his potential is not fully reached. Also Adibi and Okam provide some depth to this team. Lets look at before that year. Okoye has definitely failed. He was a top 10 pick and he so far has just been a solid starter....but look down and what do you find? Zac Diles in the 7th? Do you see the team in a rush to replace Diles? Jacoby has helped this team a ton also and is the perfect 3rd WR along with the domination of Andre, the route running and catching of Walter, Jacoby is pure speed and he made some big plays for us last season. Smith seems to do just fine to me IMO.
One thing I've learned over the past couple of months...Adam Schefter is LEGIT. Whatever he tweets has a 99.9999999989898898% success rate. Pretty much the exact opposite of John McFatass. So if you want truth to a rumor, look to him and he's saying Big Al is not on the move
Schefter=Adrian Wojo(Yahoo)...these boys are legit with their inside info. The more I think about it a FS to go with Pollard would be ideal with the 2nd rd pick and if they're health questions with TG/Hardesty then I'd rather choose a RB in the 3rd like Dixon, Tate or if Dwyer slips.
All this draft coverage, is making me wish the summer would just fly by and we'd have football back! God I miss it. Football has become my favorite sport. Used to be Basketball and Baseball. FOOTBALL!!!
Which is why they were 30th in the league in rushing. They have to rid themselves of that Denver attitude that says they can find RBs anywhere because the results say otherwise. Sorry but I'm not a fan of either RB - they strike me as just a bunch of guys.
