He's better against the run, no doubt, and I agree that I think that was a huge factor in taking him. Just from watching games, Wilson stuck to his man consistently, like glue. Guy is an excellent cover corner.

Jackson, (I admittedly didn't see much gametime action of him), seems to have decent technique and seems to be a decent player, but from what I saw of him, seemed to benefit from playing on a loaded defense. I think he had more of an opportunity to show that he could support the run than Wilson, the heart and soul of his defense for two years, did.

That being said, I was extremely wrong about Brian Cushing, and hope to be about Jackson, also.

Jackson is rated higher than Wilson. Nice pick up.

Texans shock: Jackson over McCourty, Wilson

I'm stunned the Texans drafted Alabama cornerback Kareem Jackson over Devin McCourty or Kyle Wilson. They had him rated higher, but I didn't find another team that had him rated higher.

I'm sure playing for Nick Saban had something to do with taking a junior who played for three years. McCourty and Wilson are outstanding special teams players, too. Jackson will challenge for a starting job opposite Glover Quin.

    Not by most.

    Just by Mel Kiper.

Wilson is a better cover corner than Jackson.

I don't like reading that Jackson doesn't have adequate closing speed to make up yardage if he gets burnt....

I hope I'm wrong, though. I will be the first to admit it when I am.

You can pick one or two, but scouting things before the draft, Wilson was rated higher on most boards.

I could even see Wilson being better than Haden.

    I've been wrong before, though.

I swear I heard McClain on the radio the other day talking about how much the Texans loved "the corner from Alabama".

Wilson moved up his stock as well before the draft, because towards the end of the college football season he was viewed as a 2nd/3rd guy.

Ratings give you a good idea of where players stand but you can't really go solely on them. It's one thing if these guys were VERY FAR apart, but while most boards had Wilson higher it was not by very much. Teams have their own rating systems, and think about last year...how many people/teams/scouts/experts had Brian Cushing rated higher than Aaron Curry?

Nah, he was talking about how much he loved the quadruple double cheeseburgers from the burger joint on the corner of Alabama.

So what are we hoping for tomorrow? Dexter McCluster? Troy Gerhart?

In the end, this is much like last year where most knew we'd get a OLB, but most wanted Clay Matthews over Cushing...Who wants to go back and take Clay over Cush now?

With this pick I have confidence that Kareem will help this team right away. We'll see how we do in the 2nd round, but at least the Texans tried to trade down.
