you're supposed to be playing your best heading into the playoffs, instead we're headed the wrong direction. play calling was very conservative today which is confusing since we've been told the opposite.
I wouldn't call this a knee jerk, it was about as bad as it gets really. Dan Orlovsky won his first game last week, Colts are still a terrible team all around that managed field goals all game. I know you can't win them all but if you were going to win one it would be this one. Refs did screw us but a dominant defense and top rated running game were no where to be found when it mattered.
we lost because of two kind of calls: 1) kubiak ultraconservative playcalling 2) refs awful calls I hope this is just a bump in the road, and they fix it, before playoffs.
I think kubiak got scared after the carolina game and decided to go ultra conservative. sucks because no matter what, we would have the three seed if all teams won out. what is irritating is how we lost - kubiak says yates needs all the reps he can get but how the heck is that going to happen when you go ultra conservative and only let him throw it 16 times? I'd rather lose knowing that we at least tried to throw DOWN the field. Indy's secondary is mediocre at best.
I'm trying to find the words to describe exactly how I'm feeling right now, but unfortunately there isn't a word that encapsulates shock, anger, sadness, awe, and disbelief all in one. However, I am surprisingly not TOO broken up about this loss as I thought I would be. I'm mainly looking ahead to the Jets, Bengals, or Titans. Also, I'm praying to whichever God that we may have wronged to please seek mercy on us, and not pit us against the Chargers in the first round. Oh, and the referees from this game can quite literally choke on a bag of dicks. I'm not kidding one bit when I say if I crossed anybody from this officiating crew on the street, I would probably need to be bailed out of jail for assault. I'm assuming J.J. Watt would be sitting right next to me in the cell.
My guess is that Kubiak may have arrogantly believed that the ULTRA-conservative playcalling would be enough to win this game while bringing Yates along slowly and keeping some things in the bag for the postseason. Perhaps thinking too far ahead and perhaps taking an unwise gamble instead of doing enough to ensure what should have been a sure win. Extremely costly no matter the case. Yates (or whoever) on the road to start the playoffs... the youngin and the team and the city have surely lost some confidence that will unlikely be regained no matter what happens in the one remaining, now much more meaningless game. A combination of players and coaches failed in a big way today. Of course the refs did as well but the first 10-win team to ever lose to a 1-win or less team did a giant heap of their own epic failing.
Of course it's a disappointing loss, but it would be nice to see some faith instead of people acting like the roof is caving in. This is basically the 2nd Jacksonville game except this time the conservative gameplan came back to bite us. I just don't see the huge concern here in terms of how this game applies to the playoffs especially with Wade, AJ, Briesel coming back.
What is it with these people? Yates makes a drive for the division, he's the next Brady. He loses a couple of games, you want a QB change. It's ridiculous. The season is far from over.....
He only threw 16 times. Kubiak never gave him a shot to do so. It also doesn't help when you don't have AJ in the game to throw to.
But then, what's the point in the ultra-conservative playcalling? Is Kubiak thinking long-term and playing it safe by going slowly with Yates? Or does he not have faith in Yates? If the latter, then why?? After all, Yates went 13-16 tonight! For God's sakes, Orlovsky got more a chance than Yates did! Who do we go with vs the Titans? Delhomme??
Oh, and whichever genius decided it was a good idea to put Kareem one on one with Reggie Wayne at the goal line needs to be castrated.....immediately.
Bad game but I'm still excited we havent had a postseason game in Houston since 1994! I was in the 3rd grade! I cant wait for a few weeks bring on the Jets...
Anyways Merry Christmas everyone...seriously, enjoy the weekend with your families - This would have been nice to have but Kubiak is who we thought he was. . .
Longest 10 days of a Texans fan. Fortunately most of us won't have to endure drivetime and be forced to listen to the knee jerksrs that call sports radio demanding Favre or Delhomme or Garcia.
