What hail mary?? You mean against the Redskins, when Shaub went for the tie on 4th down? Would not call that a hail mary, more like a "F-it, Im throwing it up for The Great One". Just give the Texans some props for being 4-2....every good team has a little luck going there way...Jets are more lucky than the Texans this year...
DeMeco's loss hurts, but I think Cushing will surprise a lot of people at MLB. He has better football instincts than Meco, IMO. He's also just as good as Meco in run help, but better in pass protection. You need that in an MLB.
I love Demeco, but Cushing is the better player imo, I expect him to play great, I just dont know what to expect from his replacement on the outside
Cushing's skills are better suited for an outside spot where it's easier to get after the QB. I think we're neutralizing some of that by moving him to the middle.
I would agree with this. The Titans SOS is about the same as the Texans (which is the hardest in the league) but I just believe the Titans will eventually slip up and lose a couple of games they shouldn't have lost.
That Titans defense gets turnovers though. they don't have to have a great offense when the defense is giving them a short field. unfortunately, the Texans offense must always be firing on all cylinders because our defense is dog diarrhea. i think we have to worry about the Titans more than the Colts.
John McClain picked us to lose by 3 points, so we have a great shot at winning. McClain is the brian_chapman of sports writing.
I know I am in a way. I just don't want to get insanely hyped up for this game and have the Texans come out and get blown away. If that happened, it would hurt a lot. I think typing that out makes me feel better.
http://www.houstontexans.com/news/a...-meeting/d5beb755-591a-4215-82d4-0143fcefe1c1 Apparently, the players-only meeting has paid dividends. Gary Kubiak said that Thursday's practice was the amongst the best he's seen from the defense. Antonio Smith stepping up and being a leader is a pleasant surprise. We need some veteran leadership on that side of the ball. The offense has plenty of it, now it's time for the defense to gain an identity as well.
Very happy to see that, and half-surprised it wasn't spearheaded by Cushing. Great to see that from Smith.
Well i won't put too much stock in how they practice, i remember them saying that they had a "great" week of practice before the cowboys game. But, i am happy to see the players get together. Antonio Smith caught a lot of flack early on, and rightfully so since he didnt start out well. However, the guy has picked it up and not only has played well but he has become somewhat of a motivating force.
It's not idiotic at all. Not in the least. If the turd-laden fiasco that is the Dallas Cowboys can beat the Texans down at Reliant, then the Indianapolis Colts can most certainly do so in their own stadium, regardless of who's out. It's the NFL, and just about anything is possible week to week.
Did I say the Texans weren't lucky? As for the Patriots, I'd love to hear an explanation of how things like a missed Kris Brown field goal and a fluke lateral (that appeared to be a forward pass) from Philip Rivers were getting the little things done, as opposed to luck. Or, that "extremely well coached" play on fourth down that gave the Chargers the ball in Patriots territory down just three points with two minutes. Also, there's the fact that they had 38 total yards in the first half. I really like the Patriots, but there's no harm in admitting when your team got a little fortunate. Like you said, the Texans have been VERY fortunate twice - either of the WAS/KC games could have gone the other way. Luck plays a big role in football, and it tends to even out over time. That's all I'm saying. If you believe the Pats and Ravens will each be 11-5 or better, more power to you... but I think you would be wrong.
Last year the Texans were losing the games they are winning this year. Five of the Texans 7 losses came when they had a chance and failed to tie the game in the final seconds or minutes. It's evening out this year
Let's be honest. I am looking at the Colts and wonder how the hell are they 4-2? Their Defense is more of a mishmash spare parts than the Texans and . . they raking any WR/Te available. Their offensive line is collectively 600 yrs old and d*mn near need walkers. Peyton is a heck of a guy . . but the colts are stumbling bumbling rumbling their way to probably a 10 win season Rocket River
Texans search locker room for PEDs HOUSTON -- Houston Texans owner Bob McNair ordered a sweep of the locker room to make sure none of his players are using banned substances. USA Today first reported the Texans had staff members remove any products from lockers that are not approved by the NFL. Two of Houston's players -- left tackle Duane Brown and linebacker Brian Cushing -- served four-game suspensions for different violations of the league's policy on banned substances. McNair says Friday he wanted to take a step to provide a "deterrent" for future violations. He says the Texans have the right to control players while they're in the team's facilities. Brown will return from his suspension when the Texans (4-2) play at Indianapolis (4-2) on Monday night. Cushing sat out Houston's first four games. www.espn.com
Interesting... Are they actually trying to be proactive in stopping PED issues before they start, or were they looking for something/someone in particular? If it's the former, I'm all for it. If it's the latter, that's gotta be a big ruh-roh moment for the coaches and fans. You would think that, after two suspensions in one season, the players would take a hint...
Whether or not the players took a hint, if I were Bob McNair I would have done the exact same thing. It's one thing to have gone through the whole overtrained athlete syndrome circus, but when two of my best players get suspended the same season, I'm declaring martial law in that locker room.
