Antonio Smith called for players-only D meeting and Addai not likely to play, Brown has a "real chance"
I don't think the Patriots are locks for the postseason at all. They are in a similar boat with us in that their defense is not playing up to playoff caliber. They also have a tougher remaining schedule IMO. I could see them at 10-6 and it coming down to tiebreakers like last year.
I dont know that 10-6 is going to be good enuf for a wild card...and that may be the problem as stated in a few of the recent posts. My guess is that the Jets AND Pats are going to finish better than that....so theres one WC I would also guess that the Steelers AND Ravens will finish better than that....so theres the other. I think they have a better shot at winning the division at 10-6 then they do of getting a WC at 10-6 having said that....a win this week woiuld go a long way in getting to at least that 10-6 mark...and give us at least one tiebreaker by sweeping indy
If they have a tougher schedule remaining, it isn't by much. We both Play Jets and Colts, we play Ravens and they have Steelers. We have Eagles and they have Packers. I'm not saying they have it easy, but I don't think it's any tougher than our road. Their offense has taken a ding with Moss quitting and sent packing. I'd take their "not playoff caliber" defense over our "not Division II college caliber" defense any day.
The AFC wasn't any less good last year and 9-7 was good enough. Teams beat up on each other. The Dolphins are very capable of handing NE and NYJ losses. Cincy isn't as bad as they've been playing and could cause trouble for Pitt and Baltimore. The Jets still have games against GB, Houston, @ NE, Cin, Miami, @ Pitt, and @ Chicago. 7 games that are no where near gimmies (I'll give them @ Det, @ Cleve, and Buffalo). The Pats still have Minn, @ Pitt, Indy, NYJ, @ Chicago, GB, and Miami (same exact gimmies as NYJ) The Colts still have Houston, @ Phil, Cinc, @ NE, SD, Dallas, Jax (historically have problems with them), @ and home vs. Tenn, and @ Oak. No gimmies. Tenn still has Houston and Indy twice, @ SD, @ Miami, Washington, @ KC (I'll give them Jax). Plenty of good football over the next 10 weeks. A couple of these teams (with Houston included, naturally) will not be going to the playoffs.
TO DO List Sweep Indy Sweep Jacksonville [those games are always scary] At least Split with Titans. that would be 4 more wins Shoot for 11-5 Rocket River
It often looks that way early in the season, but very rarely does it actually play out. I think 11-5 has missed the playoffs twice ever. The Pats are VERY fortunate to be 5-1, and the Ravens were a fluke fumble away from potentially losing at home to Buffalo and being 4-3. As injuries pile up and conference play gets thicker, I'm guessing at least two of those four are 10-6 or worse. I could see 10-6 missing the playoffs this year on tiebreakers, but I'm guessing the Texans will be in good shape, tiebreaker wise, if they make it to 10-6. Considering we laid our eggs to NFC opponents, our conference record (top tiebreaker) should be pretty good if we get to 10 wins... as should overall strength of schedule (a subsequent tiebreaker).
Well sure. That's fairly obvious. But, from a Texans fan's perspective, we're only going to look at things through red, white, and blue-tinted glasses. The fact is NO team is unbeatable in the NFL this year, and unless you're one of the handful of teams sitting at 0-6 or 1-5 (lol cowboys) right now, you still have a chance.
Exactly. Our schedule's are just as tough, but a few posts were implying that they were "locks" and we would be competing for the final wild card spot. I think 10 wins is the best case scenario for both us and the Pats, which would make it a tiebreaker (I think the Colts will straighten it out and win the division again). Right now, IMO, the only locks are the Jets, Steelers, and the AFC West champ. The Ravens are very close to it. The rest will be a crapshoot: Texans, Pats, Titans, Dolphins, etc.
I could be wrong and totally unaware of how they assign coin toss personnel, but I remember Antonio being out there for a few coin tosses. Has he stepped up in the locker room as well as the field?
Texans 24 Colts 59 (Hate to say it, but our secondary will get EXPOSED) (P.S. I'm not trying to be an idiot, I'm just posting a score that I fear will happen, and I'm also trying to see how much I can get flamed. Mostly, I'm hoping some reverse psychology will work.)
Seriously. I really could not imagine the Colts going 1-5 in the division [splitting with Jax and being swept by texans and titans] Rocket River
"Exposed" would imply that the defense's deficiencies were invisible to us. They are certainly not hidden. The corpse of Ray Charles knows the Texans defense sucks.
Exploited, I guess would be the better term. Right now, if Helen Keller played quarterback against our team for sixteen games, she'd win league MVP hands down.
and the Texans are a 4th down hail mary to AJ away from being 3-3....say what u want about how lucky the Pats and Ravens are...but they are no luckier than the Texans....I hate the Pats but they are a good team that is extremely well coached that gets the little things done in crunch time.....THATS why they are 5-1...not because they are lucky
Not that I'm cheering for the Titans or would ever in my life, but they are sack monsters this season, and Peyton's at a career high for throwing attempts, which is bound to continue with 3/4th string RBs. The pieces fit for the colts to at least split with the titans so that would mean .500, which is just as possible for the Texans to do (knock on wood).
