Here's my take on this...Texans CHOKE this game. I really hate saying the "moral victory" and "training wheels" excuses over and over against the Colts. This team was up 17-13 with the ball after the interception by Pollard. This team needs to be held accountable for their winning/losing. If this Texans team wants to be a playoff team, you need to knock off a high calibur team like the Colts, Patriots, and etc.
word. what I learned today: Our defense is legit. Very legit. Our offense will be hurt but not crippled without OD. When protected, Matt is as good as it gets. Our running backs are running timid. Two weeks in a row and three out of four, we are starting poorly and making pathetic mental errors. If we can clean up our starts, we are better than I anticipated us being this year. Playoffs good. And wins in the playoffs good.
At least we have the Rockets. A team that overachieves and not under. Three clutch...really clutch games and we blow all 3. Team could be 8-1 right now. If.....If....If.....Always if with this team. They have improved...but they have to prove that by ending the season strong and getting into the playoffs. No more excuses.
More black and white? Okay, i'll bite... If they lose 4 more games like they did today... to superior opponents (record wise), all road games, and games that they lost while being on the cusp of winning.... then I'd be dissapointed but not totally down on this team. But of course, that's a VERY unlikely scenario. What's more likely is that they end up going 9-7 or 10-6, and need help to get into the playoffs. Or, they go 8-8 while losing games they were expected to win... which would dissapoint greatly (and have me ready to fire people). Would you be discouraged if they went 9-7 or 10-6 and still missed the playoffs due to some crazy tiebreaker, or simply because there are a lot of quality AFC teams?
They do. But honestly... how many games can you say the Texans have truly "choked" in its existance? Nobody here is saying they should get a free pass in losing this game... just merely that some are still encouraged by their progress, even if they lost.
Chris Myers had another terrible game. Bad snaps and terrible blocking. I hope they finally move Antoine Caldwell into the starting lineup during the bye.
Most Texans fans are just dumb. We could be 8-1? This team is not that good. they have only played 3 teams with a winning and we are 1-2 in those games. This team has the 26th hardest schedule in the league. I think the texans are on the right path, but fans need to stop thinking we are the colts or the patriots.
I guess you missed the games where we lost by one yard right? No, this team has been building for YEARS. Only fools take moral victories in the NFL, especially sine one year you can be great and the next you could be looking at rebuilding.
I was at the gym and in process of running before the choke job. I jogged and channeled all my hate for that loser aggie into my session. Seven miles later I'm now happy. I suggest everyone go workout. Let the runners high wash away the anger.
I'd be discouraged that we left a lot of opportunities on the table to have a better record, if we missed out of the playoffs that way. And the inconsistencies that this team keeps showing. Don't get me wrong, I see improvements in the D and the offense can play with any D if Schaub is given time, but I'd like to see that progress tangibly culminate to a W at the end of the game. It's not asking too much for a team in year 4 of the Kube era, is it?
Depends if that gets us into the playoffs. You think the Texans can actually win against the teams they are suppose to win and win one of the 2 games between the Indy rematch and the last game against the Pats? I'd be between shocked and pleasantly surprised if that happens.
You're asking them to have won every game they were close in this year... meaning you're asking them to be 8-1. Keep in mind this was a team that was in WORSE shape at the start of the Kubiak era than they were as an expansion team (had just as little talent, and no more extra draft picks that they would have had as an expansion team). Yes, that's asking too much. They're about where I thought they would be... and when you actually see how they've played, they very well could have been better. That's not a "moral" victory... that's reality.
This is not an 8-1 team.... not on paper.... not before the season.... not during the season... and ultimately not during games even when they lose by 1 yard. Elite teams find ways to win games like today and in Arizona. I don't think we're elite yet. But are we a talentless, "lucky", smok and mirrors, just-getting-by 5-4 team? No. Again... not black and white.
No this isn't a 8-1 team, just saying the team could have easily been 8-1. You are what your record says you are and once again the Texans are either one game over .500, at .500, or right below .500 Yes this isn't a elite team, my point is though that there is no guarantee that this team will improve upon this year and grow into one. This is the NFL, we could go back to being the sucky Texans again. So i'm judging this team now. Also on paper they should have beat the Jags.
I never said this team was an 8-1 team. But your really think 5-4 is where this team should be at right now? And getting back to this game...was this a winnable game for the Texans?
