No, being clutch is making plays when it matters. Winning is a team concept, not an individual. Matt Schaub is not the one kicking the field goal. Why aren't we starting Rex Grossman, he must be ridiculously clutch, he won all the way to the Super Bowl!!!!!!
Listen, wasn't calling for Brown's head and I did say I knew he must have, that I just couldn't remember...
Dude, did you even watch that play? He was throwing the ball and a defender got a clean hit on him to make the throw a bad one. That is not the QB's fault. Schuab does plenty to have enough evidence out there to knock him when he messes up. This is not one of those times.
Don't blame Schaub, he had some good moments and some bad, but the turnovers and penalties were horrible. I didn't like some of the play calling either....but at the end of the day they were only down 3 and had a chance to tie an undefeated team at home. I think the Texans will beat the Colts at home. DD
The thing about being "clutch" in football is that it is heavily focused on team play. A quarterback can't just throw a touchdown to himself to win a game like a BBall player can shoot a game-winning three, you know?
Knee-jerk much? He put us in position to win with an easy field goal with a clutch kicker. Kris Brown just missed. He got whacked wile he was throwing and that was probally more on the line for not proctecting him for an extra secound. Its one game and he did his job; do you call Tom Brady unclutch for throwing a pick as his last possession in the 2006-2007 AFC championship?
He got us to the 25 yard line to setup for the easy FG. He did throw 2 picks so he def didn't have a clean game. We couldn't overcome the 3 turnovers. Sucks bc one of them could have been easily avoided by the coaching staff.
Bring on more fans who only see things in black and white. If this team had reached its "peak"... losses like today would be pretty discouraging. Because your "best" isn't enough to beat a better team. Do you think the Texans played the best they could today?
Damn. I'm proud of the team for fighting to get back into and lead the game. The penalties were certainly a killer. The refs made some questionable calls. The Moats fumble was incorrectly called. It was a fumble, but the player who recovered it was down at the 1. You can pick up a fumble in the endzone and run with it. He picked it up and stepped out at the 1...not that it mattered. I guess the silver lining is that they won't lay down and can play with the best. I'm looking forward to the 2nd half of the season. It's going to be a tough 2 weeks w/o Texans football. GO TEXANS!
Tough tough loss. I feel like I just got kicked in the nuts. Even so, even after penalty after penalty and the completely idiotic decision not to run a play after that Moats fumble, we still had a chance to win against an undefeated team on the road. Doesn't make it hurt any less, but I feel about as encouraged as I can about a team after a loss.
I'd love to give kudos to the Texans and give them a pat on back and tell myself "Maybe next time", but it's getting kinda old. The better question is did the Texans play good enough to win today? Sure. Even with all the mishaps and penalties and whatnot, we were still there. What held us back? Because our level of execution and attention to detail is still lacking. Sure it's getting better. But the Texans know they can beat the Colts, it's just a matter of doing it. So when can we official take the moral victory training wheels off of the Texans and officially put them on the record for their actual performances?
I would say the training wheels are off. They played tough, but lost to the better team at that team's home. That doesn't take away from the moral victory though. The Texans are not a bad team.
How many times have you been truly encouraged by this team in a loss during its existence? I'm talking about "truly" encouraged. They lost today... without playing their best football... on the road against an undefeated team. As far as losses go, how can you not be encouraged by it? I'd much rather them lose a game like this and Arizona, rather than being manhandled like they were against the Jets or getting gutted by Jacksonville at home. The Texans have played in plenty of close games during the years that they "could" have won. But have they really played in that many games that they "should" have won? No, they haven't. Its all about whether or not you believe this nucleus can win consistently. I believe they can (and I'm not just being a homer). I'm still dissapointed... but do I think this team is a failure because they lost a winnable game? No.
I dont view this game as a moral victory, I view it as a victory WE SHOULD HAVE WON... The game was within our hands, we came to THEIR city, and our team stepped up and straight played and showed we can hang with the Colts. We shot ourselves in the foot with about 159 penalties but I really want to put the blame on Kubiak. If Kubiak is going to send messages to guys like Slaton and Brown for making game costing plays through fumbles, he needs to hold himself accountable for making game costing decisions! An obvious fumble or not, it was questionable, and the fact that you let them sit there and think about it because you wanted to run 6 or 7 seconds off the clock to get to the two minute warning (which because of that warning game them about 4 minutes more worth of review time) is straight idiotic. RUN A PLAY, have Matt Turk in their as a wildcat QB spike the ball into the ground for all I care, JUST RUN A PLAY and take that challenge away you IDIOT. We're on the one, give them the benefit they punch that in and we have 4 more points. We lost this game by three..... I'm seriously hoping I wake up tomorrow and read this headline on ESPN.com , "Kubiak's inept Brain Shrinks from Quarter to Dime Size after Defensive Player's Fist to Face". I also hope they spend this bye week running "Challenge Worthy" Play Scenarios in practice, where they have game like situations and have Kubiak decide if he should challenge them or not. That or make him run through a couple of brain teasers or Soduko's
