    Boy, I have bagged on Carr as much as anybody since last season, and after that god awful preseason he had, but the fact of the matter is he played a very nice game on Sunday. He is one of only 5 QBs in the whole NFL so far to have a QB rating over 100. He performed well despite the following;

He had absolutely ZERO rushing game whatsoever to legitimize the playacton and keep the Eagles from bringing the house on blitzes.

He was going up against a very good Philadelphia Eagles defense and one of the most agressive blitzers in the NFL in Jim Johnson.

He was the victim of missed assignments/complete busted pass protections 3 times.

The Texans offense did not have the ball AT ALL in the 2nd half because of the awful play of the Texans defense. So most of his solid #s came in the 1st half.

It was his 1st game in a completely new offensive system, with almost entirely new personnel.

I said all the samethings DaDa is saying about David Carr for a year. Fact of the matter is that David has proved me wrong. It just isn't his fault this team isn't good yet. If you are going to crack on someone, crack on the bust errrr...Mario Williams and the passing up of Reggie Bush. That is what we should be upset with, not David Carr.

wow Swoly, you're an ass for that. So what if she likes to watch Peyton Manning? I like to watch him too, I like to watch all good football players play football because I love the game of football. I'm not just some blind puppet who follows my hometeam, loves all the players on my hometeam and hates all players on rival team. Geez.

ps. its r****ded for future spellings. ;)

I have ragged on Carr as much as anyone, but he showed some promise IMO in this first game. I can't stand Dom Capers, and I think Carr deserves to play with a real coach before we judge him.

The sad thing is, whether DaDa realizes it or not the main reason he hates Carr so bad is because of his man love for Vince Young. No matter what carr does, in DaDa eyes, he will never be worth a crap because he isn't VY. Same principle at work here for saying Lendale will be better than Reggie. Reggie was in competition with VY at one point in time with the draft so DaDa shuns him because of it.

Barring injury, if Lendale White is a better pro football player than Reggie Bush, i'll cut off my left nutt, tee it up and hit it with my Callaway driver and will video tape it for the world to see on YouTube.

    Nice try Sigmund......

I do like VY, no doubt and feel he will be the best QB in the NFL within 3 years, but I have bagged on Carr for the last 4 years, I have NEVER liked the guy, I just don't see a competent QB in David Carr.

As for White, many NFL scouts agree that White will be a better pro than Bush.....time will tell.

I realize that there is no serious case to be made for the Texans beating the Colts this Sunday, but I hate to see football (and sports, in general) discussions being reduced to scapegoating contests. There is no quarterback alive, or dead who could prosper with that lousy protection and coaching. John Unitas would have had the shakes after four years of that crap. Who knows if Carr can get back to his 2004 form, but with a team this lousy it is worth a shot to let him try under Kubiak. I will be interested in seeing if Richard Smith can light a fire under the D-Line..you can't tie up that much money in that position and not get better production. Any word if Buchanon will be ready for Sunday?

I actually can see where you are coming from. Because he rode the Dom Capers Express all the way to the basement, McNair has given Kubiak no margin for error to get this turned around. He has to understand that the Texans are drawing their fanbase from the ruins of the Houston Oiler fanbase that Bud Adams raised his hind leg on as he left Houston in his wake.

True Houston football fans suffered for 12 years BEFORE getting pro football again. Memories of the Oilers' decades of ineptness are still rubbing folks raw in this city so I can see how you can think they have created another Dan Pastorini in Carr. By sticking with Capers, McNair has squandered all of the goodwill he received for the first 2 years on this franchise. Thanks to him channeling Les Alexander, the Texans now have a long way to go before they can win back fans like you and the others posting here.

Yes, thank you for the late diagnosis. My doctor said I could catch up with you smart people in a few years.

OK, knights in shining armor for camisgirl, I didn't offend or insult her or called her names. She comes back and calls me a name. Classy.

camisgirl, at first I thought I liked you for lovin' my Astros (not the tattoo, just the jersey), and now you come out with some "I put Paidtons Manning on a pedestal" crap  . See how you play with my heart? At least DaDarkone came out and just pummeled whatever hope my Astros had during the end stretch of the season, but you are pouring out your entire love for him when we need you to cheer the TEXANS on. I mean, at least give The Texans some hope! "It's going to be a good game"??? WHY? :(

On top of that, you misspell "r****ded." TWICE! Jeez, lou-eez.

Dude, stop being a drama queen. It's not becoming. It's already been said. It's already been done. No explanation further required.

It's possible for someone to like and respect another player from a another team's game.

For instance, I like and respect Brett Favre's game even though last 2 years not so great but, the man exhibits great heart and plays with great passion and love for the game. Except when the Pack were playing the Texans, because the Texans, regardless of alleged induced brain injury jokes, are my team. So because of that admission, do I get the Spanish Inquisition too?

NO, you don't. It's MEXICAN Inquisition, by the way. Great analogy (no sarcasm).

i'm not holding carr’s feet to the fire for made-up **** like, "he's not a leader;" or, "he's not playing up to his draft position;" or "he's not inspiring the sad-sack lot of talent around him to play better." utter nonsense.

there are a lot things to b**** about in relation to david carr w/o having to resort to mythical, non-existent qualities. THAT’S my beef with you.

yeah - you know what else they have? great teammates. you cannot cite one team that’s ever won a SB with an inspirational leader at QB dragging 21 marginal talents along the way. never. not once. roger craig, jerry rice, charles haley and ronnie lott were not great players because joe montana was a great "leader."

besides, bettis was the steelers' leader last year; sapp was the bucs' leader; ray lewis, michael irvin, LT... i would agree SB champions have good leaders; i don't agree they have to be QBs.

oh lord... DD, that right there is an orange; this here? it's an apple. you want to compare a 5-on-5 game in which everyone plays on both sides of the ball to a game that requires 22 starters per side and 53 players overall? and then prescribe the same expectations to the players? that's beyond ridiculous.

besides, who is/was nash making better? stoudamire? marion? nowitski? and if nash is making players around him better, why did the mavs finally make it to the nba finals after he left?

yes, all teams need "leaders;" and by that i mean guys who set standards for others to follow; guys who set the tone in the locker room, on the practice field. but that player can't work miracles.

bagwell and biggio – pretty good leaders, right? yeah, well they haven't "inspired" ausmus or everett to be better hitters; clemens and pettitte haven't made wandy rodriguez more confident in his abilities. work hard, play hard, expect nothing less from your teammates – that’s the extent of a leader.

if you want to argue carr isn’t that guy, fine; maybe he’s not. but it’s not within the realm of his abilities to make victor riley a better blocker; james allen a better runner; jabar gaffney a better receiver.
