Agreed and this is why this is an important game. This game could set a barometer of where this team is going. Are we going to win the Division and get rolled in the playoffs or are we going to be struggling to hold off the Colts and possibly not make the playoffs.
On the positive side, Rivers has no arm strength so our corners can afford to play press and dare him to beat us over the top. Honestly the Chargers aren't good. They lost to the Lions and would have lost to the Colts if AV didn't miss a bunch of kicks.
Keenan Allen is a pain to cover and he seems to be healthy. Their rushing offense seems to be solid even with Ekeler. they have injuries to safeties but still have one of the best CBs in the league. Bosa and Ingram will be a challenge for the offensive line. If Anthony Lynn watched game tape from last week, they know to use exotic blitzes against Deshaun. This isn't a cake walk. They were up double digits vs the Colts and just took their feet off the brakes. We don't know if the Lions game is an anomaly or the norm for the Chargers; just like we don't know if the Jags game is an anomaly or the norm for the Texans. In other words, anything can happen
Chargers have a bad OL but they've gone years with a bad OL and have adjusted with HB passes. Woodhead before, and Ekeler now. They have injuries in the WR corps but it's been a very Texans thing for no name WRs to go off, like Ajiratutu's career game years ago.
Deshaun can switch the ball from his left hand to his right hand to avoid an incoming defender who is swiping for the ball from the blind side, all while keeping his eyes up field to deliver a long strike. You really think he didn't see Akins? Oh he saw him. He just wanted to hit the bigger play. I joked around week 4 last year that the film I would show Deshaun would be that of Dak Prescott, who at the time was throwing the prettiest 2 yard passes. There is nothing wrong with taking what the defense is giving you. It's a mental approach. He'll get there. Some of the QBs that people go gaga for were known to hold the ball all the way up to their late 20s. Patience is lost.
