Yea your right, Schaub doesn't make ANY winning plays...Miami last year when he snuck into the end zone as time expired (thats not a winning play), at Green Bay last year in the snow (boy did he not make any winning plays there)
Once again.... too much blame and focus on the QB.... not enough on the entire team as a whole. Defense still getting carved up (although they did put together a nice half) Running game still non-existant. Play calling and game planning still suspect. The first two aspects ALONE will keep any "good" team from making the playoffs. You need a defense that can create havoc, and you need a running game. I don't care if you do have the second coming of Joe Montana back there... if you don't have those two, you wont' make the playoffs. And while you can criticize the plays Schaub did or did not make, at the end of the day, he hung in there and got this team in the position to win the game. They still couldn't execute it... but the more times they get used to being in this position, the more they can take away from it. It wasn't that long ago when they couldn't help but dream to contend in these sorts of games. Now they've played in three of them this year... won one they probably should have lost, lost one they probably should have won, and today... which given the awful first half, definitely could have gone either way. They're still not a super bowl team... and maybe not even a playoff team... but they've finally established an effective nucleus that they've been searching for for 8 years.
I comletely agree with you Nick but we have been waiting a long time for a playoff team and real victories not moral ones
It's more than that man. Last week I said Kubes was a good coach, I take it back. Completely wrong. He's average at best. He is stubborn and he refuses to pass more. We start off the game run run run, running more than we pass. He's set on this mindset that the Pass Simply Can't Set up the Run...Run HAS TO set up the pass. Stop it. That's why we keep coming back in these games. It's because we only pass when we need to...and when you are down 21 points running the ball isn't going to help. So why don't we use the pass to set up the run? Nothing changed from the first to the 2nd half...we just started to use the weapons we have...passing the ball to Daniels, AJ, Walter, and crew. And anohte big problem with Kubiak is it takes him too long to realize when a player is downright playing HORRIBLE. It took till last week to realize that maybe Bennet wasn't good enough...and I hope Meyers has seen his last start. Meyers isn't bad, he can hold up his end of the bargain mostly...but the problem is he gets no push at all. Creates no hole. And another problem...stop using Slaton inside...we just hand it off to Slaton inside inside inside...Yet when he gets the ball outside on a sweep it's always positive yards. START CALDWELL. He was a decorated college player how much worse can he be? Really...might we actually get a single yard when we need it? This loss more than any has me the most upset. Right next to the Jets game.
Nope, wrong again. Schaub has one of the highest yards/attempt averages in the league(6th) and is good at big play passes (5th). Texans are only 12th in YAC. Besides, for a player to get YAC the QB still has to make the right read and throw the player in stride...which Schaub does. I don't expect you to agree. It's ok, I know you just don't like to admit you're wrong sometimes.
Past the top 5 obvious QBS, QB evaluation can be really lame. It comes down to mannerisms, who barks at their teammates excuding "leadership" and "competitive fire", who has the big arm, who can win with their legs. If Jay Cutler was there in Matt Shaub's place, he'd be the gunslinger who you can live with trying to make the big plays. Even though his stats are worse. There might not have been a competent enough running game to resort to. Or good play calling, Agree Still correct call or not, it worked cuz it got Dreesen WIDE STINKING OPEN. You have to get him the ball. Shaub isnt the reason we are 2-3. But he's the reason we didnt at least tie today's game. BUT, we can't forget last week's Chris Brown fumble/bad ref call on Kevin Walter pick play. I'd sure hope the O-line feels just as bad at not converting their blocks as they do Shaub not converting passes.
How long have you really been waiting? Must we re-hash how poorly the team was built from year one? The expansion texans were awful... and anything they tried to build ultimately failed. In year 4, they have to start completely over, WITHOUT the multiple extra picks that you normally get when you're an expansion team, and without any salavageble parts from the original expansion (minus Chester Pitts and Kris Brown... woo!) If the NFL ever expands again, they need not look much further than Houston and the current Cleveland Browns. A few bad picks, and it sets the franchises back more than 3 years. At least Houston seems more promising than Cleveland... and they've been around post-expansion even longer!
Yep...Kubiak is way to enamored with his Denver Bronco roots, where no matter what back they threw out there would run for a 1000 yards. I think those teams spoiled him and his way of thinking, putting so much value in the run even though it was showing nothing for us. Next week I am praying (but not expecting) for a more throw dominant team to come out the gates
you don't get it, only the savior 3rd string quarterback VY makes winning plays.. No need for stats, just look at games! VY just "wins"! Schaub doesn't. forget all those funky numbers, those completion percentages and QB ratings, they're all irrelevant. it's either you have it in you or you don't. 3rd string QB Vince Young has it in him.. He sucks but he has it in him! Schaub doesn't. is it in you?
fire pubes! kubiak sucks! schaub blows! next week big win over bengals; kubiak rules! schaub is beast!
That last pass you refer to was off because Schaub was throwing on the move...again. He's just not good throwing on the run or while backpedaling. He made two big mistakes sure but in the end it was the inability to run the football that doomed them...again (thanks ZBS). Add their noshow first half and you end up with a 2-3 record. To their credit, they really ratched it up in the 2nd half and had Warner really po'ed there in the 4th Qtr. AT the end of this day, they are looking like an 8-8 team which is about where I had them. BTW, it's way past time you laid off Pretty David. Let's see what kind of QB you'd make after your coaching staff lets you get sacked 250+ times.
Look, Schaub is a fine QB and the right one for this team at the moment, but this game is on him. He had a GREAT 2nd half but those 2 critical mistakes are 100% his fault. He has to eliminate mental decision-making errors like those to help this team win more games. Good overall game, but 2 critical mistakes ruined his night. He isn't the sole problem though, the O-line and Chris Brown not being able to get in the endzone once again from a yard away needs a solution. Running is the safe play to go with at that moment but we have so many options on offense that I would rather just pass it to any of our capable receivers.
Kubiak needs to go. Every franchise has turned it around for atleast a season other than the lions. Kubiak has not coached a meanigful game in December. And if they lose next week like expected than this season is done. Time to move on
Matt played great, until it mattered. Those were two crucial mistakes that your QB just can't make. When the game is tied and you are driving, you can't throw a pick 6. No excuses. If you have a wide open man to tie it up and are under no immediate pressure, you can't overthrow him. No excuse!!!! At least Matt is good for fantasy though.... If you can't tie a game up from the 1 yard line in multiple games, then you just don't deserve to win.
i just found the perfect QB for DaDakota. Passing CP/AT YDS TD INT D. Anderson 2/17 23 0 1 At least the Browns won.
