Schaub has had an iffy day, for sure... but he's hung in there. Its how you do in these games... where you just don't have your best stuff, but still need to make the plays to win, that separate you from having sustained success in this league to being done after 5-6 years. Its a ballgame again folks...
Why not mention Kordell Stewart? Or hell I'll go one better... Stan Humphries led his team to a Super Bowl!
I don't rate his accuracy all that high, personally. Far too many balls thrown behind the receiver or at their feet. Rare that he places the ball into a tight window. Schaub is largely successful because the receivers and playbook open up the field and give him a wide open option on many downs. One reason we struggled so much in the red zone last year was that he (and Sage) couldn't come through when they had to pass into traffic. I'm not saying he sucks. He's a good QB, he understands the game and does a great job surveying the field and utilizing all of his receivers. But our elite receiving corps and playbook make him look very good most weeks.
Hey D(ebbie) D(owner)...don't look now but your "leaderless, unable to rally his troops" quarterback that is Matt Schaub is doing a poor job getting us back into the game.....
Defense has hung in there, Arizona has gotten complacent with their play calling (which they've been doing all year... they miss Haley), and the offense finally is taking what the defense is giving them (instead of trying to hit the HR.
