I feel pretty confident that 9-7 or 10-6 would make it in. 7 teams make the playoffs this year.

The 8-8 Steelers would have made it last year, and things typically fall around that range for the 7th spot.

But again, this is basically a miracle hypothetical.

Texans will get a huge break... JAX has been thinking about switch QBs off Minshew, and suddenly discovered multiple fractures in his hand. So likely to face Mike Glennon.

Believe we have a 2% chance at making the playoffs. So yes not mathematically out but don’t believe the Texans should be “buying” on a 2% chance given how we have looked.

Watch Glennon pull a Henne and go for 400 yards.
Considering they took leads against Pitt and Ten, 2 undefeated teams and a Dhop catch away vs Vikings, they can play with everyone left in that schedule. Once the losing starts, it spreads and takes over.

Yet they scored 0 pts in the 1st half last week and scored a bunch of meaningless pts in the 2nd half.

    Useless stats

Miracles do happen, you know :D

Honestly, next year is a better year to tank anyway. Tanking now helps Miami more than it helps Houston. I don't think the Texans will be able to get a 1st or a 2nd from any of the guys they want to trade. With the exception of Fuller, all the guys that we are talking about trading will be here next year. Even if they finish the year 8-8 and miss the playoffs, at the minimum they've boosted several player's trade stock to be traded in the offseason or during next season. It's not like there's a lot of young talent waiting in the wings to take their place. Let the vets have one last hoorah and see how it goes. Give the coaching staff a chance to earn a job on next year's staff.

Those were not useless. There were within two scores with about 10 minutes to go in the quarter.

Agree. But it wasn't because of the score. It could have been a one point game and it would still have felt like a blowout.

At this point, we just have to come to the realization that whether we tank or not really has no bearing. Those picks are gone so whether it’s a Top 5 or 10 pick doesn’t really matter.

I agree that we’re not gonna get a 1st or 2nd for anyone but a 3rd or 4th possibly? Maybe it helps us put together a package to move up? And don’t really agree that all the guys being mentioned will be here next year, the Texans need to shed some serious weight just to get under the cap. That’s not even talking about clearing space to make FA moves. BoB has seriously ****ed us in so many ways.

Call me Pollyanna but I think there is something to be gained by not tanking this season. Imagine a world where the Texans finish with 7 wins or more. Maybe they don't make the playoffs but Fuller balls out or Watt shows he is still a force, or Mercilus has one of his deceptive but good stretches with multi sack games.

    1. The team has more leverage in trades because they can tell teams they are not tanking
    2. The players look more attractive as a 7-9 team than on a 1-6 team.
    3. The team is still somewhat attractive to free agent players and coaches. No one really wants to be a part of a rebuild.
    4. If they hold off the "tank" till next year their 2022 draft capital is much better to get a substantially higher draft pick.
    5. If they don't, it's a lot harder to move from the 3rd round to anything much higher than a lower 2nd. Is that something to be really excited about?

When I mean the guys will still be here, I mean they are still under the contract. If the team wants to cut or trade them, they can. But my point is whatever trades they want to make this year will probably be available to be made in the offseason or next year.

BOB really messed things up. One way that isn't being mentioned is that if they had held on to Hopkins (even if he was disgruntled), he would be the most attractive trade piece right now.

GMs don't look at a teams wins/losses to determine who they want IMO. If a team like the Packers want to trade for JJ tomorrow, our 1-5 start isn't going to stop them.

Also don't think tanking this season necessarily puts us in a rebuild mode. As stated earlier, the Texans have no choice but to make some serious cuts this offseason. The question is whether we want to possibly get some compensation in return. And if we are talking about the team being attractive, planning on a 2022 tank certainly wouldn't do that, especially if you are HC. Not to mention that DW4 would probably be like WTF get me out of here. I think if you asked him honestly, he'd know this season is just about over.

The Texans need to trade anybody with value outside of Watson and Tunsil. We need draft picks in the worst possible way. We are significantly over the cap and would be cutting these players anyway. It's time for the new GM to have as many picks as possible.

Hopefully they are trying to play hardball by saying Watt is off limits.

Get rid of Fulton and Selemente. They are trash. I'll pull a BoB and throw in a 1st rounder from 2030.
