I really can't see Houston losing a game either especially w/ AJ coming back, Casey and Daniels getting back to 100% and Danieal Manning coming back right near the last game or two
Also, Demeco will get healthier as the season progresses (barring a setback or another injury). People easily forget how good a player a healthy Demeco is. Hopefully he's back in beast mode come playoff time.
Another great game by the Texans. Sure is nice watching them dominate their opponents from start to finish. This isn't breaking news or anything, but with the Colts loss and the Texans win today, Indianapolis was mathematically eliminated from winning the division.
something of note, Arian had a 45 yard run called back due to a hold call- if the call wasn't made he would have ended up with 129 yards rushing and 102 yards receiving . . . so close to another 100/100 game Of course the team is more than one player but that would have been cool
On that note, someone explain why holding calls are upheld if it had nothing to do with the result of the play? How is that different from not calling pass interference on uncatchable throws?
Exactly, I guess there can be some calls of holding in front of the RB that could have made a run that wouldn't have, but not in this case - Brisiels' holding call was away from Foster and didn't affect the 45 yard run that got negated. Maybe the reasoning is everything will be called back on any holding calls to avoid trying to split hairs on whether it actually affected the play or not. . .
But so many of the calls are judgment calls anyways. Why not let the officials have a chance to get it right on big plays like these? I would think determining whether a holding call affected the play or not is much easier to determine than most pass interference or "defenseless receiver" calls.
If I remember correctly, Foster ran right past Brisiel before making his cut. The hold in question actually happened right next to the hole that Foster cut into. It sucks, but it happens. If you start calling holds that only affect the plays, you get into huge gray areas of judgements that lead NFL officiating open to tons of criticism. On pass interference calls, you have the benefit of calling a ball uncatchable because you know who it was thrown to. You don't rule a ball uncatchable if there was even the slightest chance of a receiver catching it.
How do you know that a guy that gets held on the backside of that 45 yard run (which wasn't the case) doesn't make the tackle five yards into the run? It could easily happen.
btw, what we all do next sunday without a game thread? . . .sigh  - o yea root for the Ravens, and Patriots to lose.
On the heels of that blowout, it'd be tough to....but few teams ever run a 10 game streak. Love how we're playing, and we are better on paper than the rest of our opponents, but I have to allow for at least one or two unexpected losses in my expectations. I'd be THRILLED with an 11 win season.
If they go 4-2 the rest of the way (i.e. an 11-win season), Kubiak will have made it back to .500 as a head coach. Obviously, not great, but considering he inherited a 2-14 team and endured 2 6-10 seasons, that's something to note, in my opinion. Hopefully, with the teams in the division getting younger (specifically at the QB position), this team can continue on its ascent in the AFC South and roll off a period of 3-5 years of consistent playoff caliber football. Brings up another one of the biggest failings/missed opportunities of this organization to-date. Back in 2002, we all thought that although our division was tough with teams that were playing at a high level (division winner had double-digit wins every year and the AFC South sent two playoffs teams to the playoffs in 6 of the previous 9 years). Admittedly, some of those teams fattened up by getting to play the sad-sack Texans twice a year, but everyone thought that the NFL stood for Not For Long meaning that those teams would start to decline as the Texans improved from their expansion years. With the strong play of Manning the Colts were able to stay on top for almost the entire 10 years of our existence. They should've been the anomaly. Tennessee dropped off big time after 2003, and the Texans should've taken their place in the division if things had progressed "as planned." For a multitude of reasons, the Jaguars were the teams that moved up to number 2 and kept the Texans buried in the division and out of even playoff contention. This team, if properly managed and run, should have never taken 10 years to reach this level of success. Just makes me want to savor this season (and hopefully the next couple) that much more. Definitely way overdue. Sorry for the long post, just been really nice to finally feel like *we're* back on the NFL landscape. Go Texans.
