Got back from the game about an hour ago.... Few observations: I don't know whether it was that our defense finally showed up, or that the Browns just suck and played horribly, or both. I say both. Our defense finally had a pretty good game, nonetheless, though. Jacques Reeves was burnt a few times, which sucked, but luckily he was playing against Braylon Edwards(more on that later). What was with the illegal contact calls? It was like the refs were trying to give Cleveland the win, and Cleveland said "No thanks!". I voiced that aloud near a few Browns' fans. Demeco seemed like his name was called a lot more than 6 times...It seems like his ankle is getting better. I've been impressed with Adibi. Slaton was solid with a few flashes of brilliance. All those great offensive years in Denver are finally translating here, it seems. The Browns have a decent defense. They didn't play all that well today, but I'll say this: Our offense was unstoppable today. It was executed nearly flawlessly. Especially the passing game. Someone was wide open (whether Sage hit them or not) on nearly every pass play. That was set up by a solid running game. Andre Johnson continued to be great. I never realized how good Walters is. Browns fans are very passionate. I was looking for parking and got turned around, and a couple fans shouted at me, after seeing me Texans gear, "HEy! The stadium's that way!"(I was sitting about 100 feet from the stadium) Walking into the game, a ticket guy saw my Texans hoodie, and took a jab, saying, "I'll see you at halftime when you're leaving." I told him we'll see about that. One fan behind me was kind of annoying, though. Actually, he was sort of comical because his team was losing. He kept calling every player, no matter who, a Fata**, D*ckhead, F**ker, etc. etc. And Joe Thomas has never held anyone in his whole life, according to this guy. We laughed at him nearly the whole game. It was a pretty good atmosphere until thousands left with about 8 minutes left (with me laughing the whole time). As people were leaving, I said aloud that I would not be leaving because Rosenfields was behind center, and I still had a bad feeling. I also said, "Cleveland can win this one in 2 minutes." Everyone still left. Braylon Edwards is overrated. He has been under fire for bad hands, and man, did he show it today. He should have had over 10 catches. The fans were booing him badly. Yelling "Go back to Michigan!", and at the end, "Trade Edwards!" Derek Anderson was booed just about the whole time he was in there. These fans love Brady Quinn. Josh Cribbs is very popular in Cleveland, to my surprise. The Texans players, at the end of the game, gathered at the tunnel with about 30 Texans' fans (about all there was in the whole building), and were giving arm bands and whatnot out. Very cool of them. I yelled for Mario as he was walking off, but he could not hear me. I'll say this: I still feel that if our defense was ran a little differently, and was motivated for every game, we'd be looking at a record of something like 7 and 4, or better. And We'd be in playoff contention. I feel like this team is a good one, our defense is still maybe a little too young, and definitely too inconsistent. With our offense, we are much better than our record, and once we start winning, will garner more respect around the league. Something I feel that we deserve, and are close to earning. I was in line at concessions at half-time and hear a drunken fan crying about his team losing to the "F**king Texans!" I wanted to turn to him and tell him that the better team was winning, but I was outnumbered about 1,000 to 1. I saw Antwaun Molden jersey in the crowd. This surprised me. Upon further review, he is from Cleveland, and this must have been either a friend or family member. It was very cold out today. I thought I might lose a couple toes. Browns Stadium is nice. I've never had the chance to visit Reliant, and I imagine it nicer, but for an outdoor venue, this was nice. All in all, I had a great time. It was my first Texans game, and it was well-worth the two-and-a-half hour drive. Anyone know if we're playing the Bills in Buffalo next year? That would be a much closer game for me to go to. Plus, I know a few Bills fans with season tickets that I could harass. I'm probably forgetting a lot, but it's been a long day, and five hours of driving is catching up to me...
Thanks for the story. Glad you had a good time. Yes, the Texans will play at Buffalo next year. We're playing the AFC East next season with road games at Buffalo and Miami, and home games against New England and the New York Bretts. I wonder if there is a chance the Texans/Bills game will be played in Toronto. You never know if that's the game they'll pick to play there.
I was watching Texans Wrap on FSN and they said that Ahman Green will be out 2-3 weeks. With only five more games left in the season, if his injury lingers on, we may have seen the last of Green in a Texans uniform.
Good riddance, he can't stay on the field so he's no good to us. THanks for sharing your experience, I have yet to be at a Texans game. I really wanted to go this year, but money has become a bit of an issue for me (and I live farther away from houston now). I hope to make it to one next year.
Next game is our first MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL game isn't it? December 1st or something against the Jags.
Wow, EddieWasSnubbed, pretty gutsy performance by you, sir. Thank you for representing without fear. I, myself, would have more than likely pissed off many people by screaming so much for my team. That's true. You wouldn't try to make that one? I hear people aren't keeping their tickets and are almost all gone.
