Interesting part from caserio’s press conference was he had an offer to move back from 15 to 20 but thought that was too far of a drop
Green probably was a slight reach, very slight, but there isn’t any doubt in my mind that he was an excellent pick and will improve the team immediately. When a guy does that, who cares if you grab him a few spots early? He should be an anchor on that line for years. Plus he’s local, which is always a nice bonus.
Aaron Wilson @AaronWilson_NFL Nick Caserio: 'It was a fairly productive start for us' on drafting Derek Stingley Jr. and Kenyon Green. Nick Caserio on Kenyon Green: 'We got there at 13 Philly wanted to come up, we ended up picking up three extra picks. We slid back and picked Kenyon, really productive, consistent player' Added more of 'an inside player. Blue collar, humble, works his ass off' Nick Caserio said Texans had opportunity at No. 15 to move back to No. 20, but thought it would take them out of the running for too many players. Nick Caserio: 'Off to a decent start, still a long way to go. Definitely some good football players that are out there.' Nick Caserio said he will 'recalibrate' and determine if more trades make sense Friday Nick Caserio: 'Derek (Stingley) runs well, plays the ball well, plays with good technique,' Nick Caserio on Derek Stingley playing against the best in SEC @LSUfootball: 'Anytime you can see players against top-level competition, it's pretty significant.' Nick Caserio on first-round trends 'The league works in cycles. How teams draft is going to work cyclically. You have to be adaptable and be able to pivot.' Nick Caserio on Kenyon Green: 'Grew up here, understands football. His family is here, your support system matters. Ultimately, the most important thing is to play well.' Nick Caserio said that the Texans contemplated another move-back scenario from No. 15 where they selected Kenyon Green, and emphasized that it's about what you potentially miss out if team had moved back to No. 20. Nick Caserio noted 'emotional experience' for the draft picks when he informs them they've been selected. 'To present a young kid an opportunity is a pretty unique opportunity. You're putting a lot of trust and faith in that person. Hopefully, they reciprocate.' Texans general manager Nick Caserio said there was some dialogue about moving back into first round after picking at No. 15 Nick Caserio didn't indicate whether Texans will or won't exercise fifth-year club option for Tytus Howard. He said Texans will make a decision in best interest of organization. Texans like Howard's versatility a lot and he was praised this week by Lovie Smith
No way they end up drafting 11 more players. You have to think some of these will be ammo to move up to get certain guys who fall. As others have said, I'd love to see them move back up to grab another 2nd rounder.
Scharping has always been a solid project backup OT/OG (unless you hit the lottery with him, not Texans luck), L.Johnson I always thought would grow out of CB and could be a quality safety. Neither of these have happened.
They don't have or want enough roster spots for all those, so let's start the bundle-and-trade-up. Now we learn about Caserio's backroom smarts.
