Not seeing any details about Neal’s medical concerns but definitely seeing reports that some teams have removed Neal from their draft boards completely because of them
https://www.fanduel.com/theduel/pos...ortedly-crushing-nfl-draft-stock-01g1h7ncaw7y "WalterFootball.com has learned from team sources that some teams have medically flunked Alabama offensive tackle Evan Neal. ... These medical exams are subjective, however, so while Neal was flunked by some, sources from other teams shared their organizations had given him a passing grade."
No specifics, but I did see he was injured in Spring practice a year ago. Played the season, but thought it was unusual for him to not test at Combine or Pro-Day. Guess it was more than unusual, he was trying to cover something or this is misinformation to get him to slip. Crazy continues.
Not sure how I feel about Stingley at 3. The lisfranc injury scares the heck out of me. But a year or so ago I would of ran up To the podium to select Stingley Jr. And if we do select Stingley is the plan to play him right away or redshirt??
I feel the same. It's curious because CBs in Lovie's defense play mostly zone (I thought) hence the value for either of these guys would seem to be minimized (unless he's incorporating more man in his philosophy). There are some interesting CBs in rds 2-4 that I think may bring the value with a little less risk. I'm fully on Icky or JJ II train at #3, unless something unusual happens with 1-2.
I tend to agree with this. If it were me and I wanted to go CB with that pick, I'd go the safe route and take Gardner. But I also don't have access to Stingley's medical info and haven't seen him personally on the field. If Caserio and co. have looked at all the information in front of them and feel like he's a safe enough pick to take a chance on him at No. 3, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Until he proves he can't evaluate talent, I'll assume he knows what he's doing. One year in, so far, so good for the most part. If nothing else, if they take Stingley, I won't be disappointed. His ceiling is off the charts, and he should be a huge boost to the defensive rebuild assuming he can stay relatively healthy.
I can't pretend to have watched the prospects a ton or to be any kind of a draft expert, but I don't know where this late push for Johnson is coming from. Every mock up until this week has had him as a borderline top 10 guy, but now there's talk of him in the top 5 ahead of Thibodeaux? Most of the analysis I've seen seems to point to him being a little raw and maybe a bit of a project. At 3, I'd personally prefer someone who feels more like a sure thing. What am I missing?
While I'm not totally mad at the trade scenario proposed here at 13 where they trade all the way back to 29 and still get Linderbaum with that pick, I don't love the idea that they'd trade back 16 picks in the first and only get two 2nds out of the deal. I'd have to see the value numbers to know if that's a fair trade or not, but that seems like a ton of spots to move back. Maybe I'm crazy, though.
Announce your pick, Jacksonville. You cowards. Didn't Mario sign a contract with the Texans 1 day or 2 before the draft?
Does this happen anymore? It may actually be against the current rules. With the implementation rookie wage, there's really not any incentive for a team to pre-announce their pick. Before, you could start negotiations if you knew who you were going to take.
