we have to remember the way they were being coached was part of the problem. I think the oline we have now can make some holes. I like going all defense in the first then rb and wr later

I’m so conflicted on OL , I realize while the pass blocking is actually not bad especially with Tunsil in the fold and active , it’s not run blocking savvy much , so yea I get OL but the concern is getting premium OL run blockers will cost someone else in the top 13 that will be top shelf on defense …such a unsettled draft for sure

To me, the only way you’re going Oline this high is if your moving Tunsil this year. If your confident you can get a first plus for Tunsil prior to the trade deadline, then this make sense if your guy is on the board.

After doing some more digging on Linderbaum I think Caserio is going to draft him there at 13…when and or if y’all have the time look up David Andrews his size is compatible with Linderbaum also read his draft profile and then read the one on Linderbaum.

Lock up Mills center or future QBs center for the next 10 years…I know we have Britt but I could see Britt being a good mentor to Linderbaum.

Also seems like the perfect prospect for Caserio and the Texans vision for this team going forward.

(also look up Jeff Saturday height and weight)

I like the idea of investing in interior offensive linemen in this draft, even high up with some Day 2 picks, but 13 seems really high for a center. If the Texans take a center or guard in the first, it feels more likely that they traded back or up for that.

Is this 2 different OL coaches that were the problem? Or is it a talent issue?

Depends on what kind of OL you want.

If you want a really good OL that can pass protect and run the ball, pick Neal at 1-3 and draft Salyer in the late 2nd after either trading down from 2-37 or trading up into the bottom of the 2nd using 3-68 and 4-108.

    An OL of

    Tunsil
    Salyer
    Britt
    Cann
Neal will be much improved in both pass pro and the run game.

Was listening to The Ringer’s Draft Show podcast yesterday and they brought up Linderbaum. They pointed out that he’s a smaller center and is very scheme specific. More like the Jason Kelce role. Said that he needs to be a center who moves horizontally/pulls a lot and not moving vertically. They said there’s really only so many teams out there that he’s a good fit for (didn’t mention the Texans). They said they believe he might fall to the end of the first (Bengals) or into the second and that whoever gets him is getting a really good lineman but is also kinda pigeon holing themselves into a specific scheme they have to run. Not sure what kind of scheme Pep will be running but I found that interesting. I’d be quite surprised if we drafted him at 13.

    Jason kelce is an all-pro

It’s most likely any small undersized center they will say the same thing.

When you research Linderbaum they are reports saying he’s the best center prospect to ever come along in years.

But yes 13 would be high but I wouldn’t put it pass the Texans that they are high on Linderbaum.

I don’t think so, but if someone wants him bad enough maybe. If his numbers in college were better I think he might be in play that high, and I’ve heard rumors he might be anyway, but I think it would be a reach.

There are a lot of guys I like in Top 10, but if Caserio is drafting for the long-term then you have to go for the building block sure things.

Assuming Hutchinson and Walker go 1&2, then Neal would be a phenomenal building block at either OT spot. He's not optimal with Tunsil and Howard, but he's about as sure a thing as there is in this draft. Heck JAX could take him #1 and not look back. Ekwonu would be easy to take at #3 and slot in at LG until Tunsil leaves, but believe Neal has more value. I'd also not be disappointed with Jermaine Johnson II, dude is phenomenal edge and could be as good or better than the first 2 picks.

I like Sauce and Hamilton, but not better than the guys above. I do think Jameson Williams is someone that could get picked in the Top 10 and if we trade #13 to move back, then he's one of the guy's I'd target.

There's some really good players in the first 4 rounds, excited that we've got 7 picks to go shopping with.

yes based on how they were being coached on their assignments, it was confusing and that’s from the centers mouth directly

Then they definitely need to draft smarter players, since 2 different OL coaches couldn't teach them.

No I absolutely agree that he’s a really good center prospect. I’m just relaying what I heard on a podcast with a bunch of guys who dedicate their lives to the draft every year. And their opinion is that he’s an incredible center prospect but that he has limitations as far as scheme fits. I would love to have him on the Texans. I’m just not sure if he’s a schematic fit or if he’s worth it at pick 13 when guys like Wilson, Williams, Johnson, London, Cross, Hamilton, etc. could all still be there.

Howard is is an above average tackle. To me, you larger weaknesses that need to be addressed on this team

Disagree….a year or so ago Stingley would of been the pick but now it’s sauce…the lisfranc injury scares me away big time.

And I’ve been wanting Stingley for a year or so as well.

Sauce just has all the tools as well as the “IT” about him that the defense desperately needs.

Now if we trade back and take Stingley then fine but not at 3.

This should be the easiest draft ever for the Texans (barring trades and in-draft shenanigans):

    1. Make thorough list
    2. Cross off the list players who have been drafted
    3. Draft next player on list
