I love the idea of moving down incrementally, getting an elite talent and picking up an extra day 2 pick.
Houston Texans 3. Kyle Hamilton, S, Notre Dame 13. Jordan Davis, DT, Georgia 37. Kaiir Elam, CB, Florida 68. Brian Asamoah, LB, Oklahoma The Texans should dip their toes into the 2022 quarterback class. But bad organizations over-commit to foolish quarterback decisions as if it's their mission statement, so the Texans will try to build around Davis Mills' "impressive" late season and his statistical profile full of failed completions in 2022. But that doesn't mean Walkthrough plans to sabotage the Texans' entire draft class. Hamilton is a future perennial Pro Bowler. Once Jack Easterby wanders off to bathe in the Hamilton accolades, Nick Caserio can take the helm and select Davis, a Vince Wilfork surrogate, with one of the picks the Texans gained from the Browns. Elam is a starting-caliber cornerback coming off some 2021 injuries. Asamoah plays a little out-of-control but brings range, explosiveness, and eagerness. Hamilton, Davis and Asamoah could form much of the spine of an outstanding Lovie Smith Tampa-2 defense. We neglected to mock a receiver to the Texans, so in the fourth round let's give them Clemson's big slot target Justyn Ross with the 107th overall pick and Nevada speedster Romeo Doubs with the 108th. Also, they're the most likely team in the NFL to get excited about signing Cole Beasley. ------------ Interesting tidbit in bold.....but don't we already have Amendola?
I’ve read he had a sexual abuse with a minor charge so this is prolly a deeper dive into that situation it was dropped by the way.
How would y'all feel about a draft like this? 1-3 Sauce 1-13 Jermaine Johnson 1-21 Green using 37 and 80 in a trade up to say 21. 3-68 Jelani Woods 4-107 Velus Jones 4-108 Zamir White
Solid B grade for me! Love Sauce and Johnson at 3/13 those are perfect to add to Lovie's defense, but not sure I'd move up for Green. Love Woods potential, but would hope to get him at #80. I'd be alright with Jones in 6th (as a 6-year senior), but like a lot of other receivers more. White is also a 6th rd guy for me with 2 prior ACL tears and likely mostly a power back for downs 1-2. Love his size and speed though!
Dane Brugler 7-round mock https://theathletic.com/3248022/2022/04/14/mock-draft-2022-nfl-dane-brugler/ 3. Houston Texans: Ikem Ekwonu, OT/G, NC State Houston is wide open at this spot. Cincinnati cornerback Sauce Gardner would not be a surprise here. A pass rusher like Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux will be part of the discussion. But the idea of fortifying the offensive line with the top blocker on the board feels like the most realistic option. The bigger question might be, which offensive lineman? 13. Houston Texans (from Cleveland): Jermaine Johnson, Edge, Florida State The Texans might go pass rusher at No. 3 overall, but in this scenario they opt for the offensive lineman and still land one of the draft’s better edge rushers at No. 13. Johnson has the length, agility and active hands to be disruptive as both a pass rusher and run defender. 37. HOU: George Pickens, WR, Georgia Breece Hall is in the discussion for the Texans at 37. So are Kyler Gordon and a few others. But the idea of adding a down-the-road No. 1 target in George Pickens will be appealing to the Texans’ decision-makers. At 6-3 and 195 pounds with 4.4 speed, Pickens has the athletic profile and ball skills to eventually develop into the Texans’ go-to target. 68. HOU: DeMarvin Leal, DL, Texas A&M 80. HOU (NO): Channing Tindall, LB, Georgia 107. HOU (DET): Bailey Zappe, QB, Western Kentucky 108. HOU: Cade Otton, TE, Washington 183. HOU: Yusuf Corker, S, Kentucky 205. HOU (GB): Chase Lucas, CB, Arizona State 207. HOU (SF): Hassan Haskins, RB, Michigan 245. HOU (DAL): Vederian Lowe, OT, Illinois There are a few Illinois prospects with a chance to be drafted, and it wouldn’t be surprising if their former college coach Lovie Smith looked to work with them again in Houston. Vederian Lowe started 52 games in his college career at tackle and should compete for a backup role in his rookie season.
My ultimate mega trade 3rd pick traded for the 8th pick for Falcon's future 1st and this year's 2nd. then Texans trade the 8th pick to Green Bay for their 22nd, 28th, 2nd round this year and another first next year. Packers select their WR for Aaron Rodgers who is contemplating retirement and into acting fulltime after his breakout role in Snowfall. 13th pick: Stingley jr: (You bring him into the fold slowly not like Kareem) 22nd pick: George Karlaftis 28th pick: Christian Watson 37th pick: Devin Lloyd 43rd (via Falcons) Breece Hall (you want to run the ball like you say you do you can't do it with 30 year olds and Achilles recovering rbs) 59th pick via (Green Bay) Tight end of choice, you pick! 2023 1st round picks: Cleveland's, Falcons, Green Bay's and their own 16th pick after finishing 2nd in the AFC South.
Very creative. I would be happy with that. I’m hoping for at least a trade down from 3 to one of the top 10 teams who need a QB. In that situation I’m hoping for Stingley and Hamilton.
Despite his testing at the combine, I think Green is the best of in this class. He's going to be a cornerstone type of player for yrs to come. That's how high I am on Green. You will be lucky to get Woods at #68. He tested out as possibly the most athletic TE to ever workout at the combine. I think you're sleeping on Jones, he's the big slot this team has been missing. I would trade one of the 6ths to make sure I got him. You're right about White, but I'm not seeing him as a long-term guy, but as part of a committee. I'm wanting to draft a bell cow in the 2023 draft.
