Right but that should be expected if you’re not practicing and playing primarily on the edge. Not much different than drafting a DE to play OLB. Actually think the move from DT and DE would be a bit of an easier transition.

Yeah I'm guessing either Sauce at 3 or Booth at 13.

This is interesting, thanks for sharing!

The trick is making the pick count and Caserio/scouts did a truly remarkable job last year. Having said that, competition should start to get tougher next year and its highly unlikely all 11 picks (or however many we actually make) contribute to the team.

Another issue is scheme. Will we draft purely for Lovie/Pep or will Cas override based on talent? For example, Sauce is excellent man-to-man defender and can also play well in a zone, but is inconsistent as a run defender. The Cover 2 plays mostly zone and asks CBs to be great tacklers and tough in run support. So is that a consideration and do we pass on Sauce? In this instance, I think the answer is no we don't pass on him. Lovie likes big CBs and has been willing to "modernize" his Cover 2, which could include more man-to-man with a talent like Mr. Gardner.

When I look back at Caserio's first draft with us (2021) he seemed to go after value and invest in players that had real upside (Mills, Collins and Jordan) with his early picks and then took shots on prior production/traits with Wallow and Lopez. All of the rookies took a little time to contribute, but by the end of the year they were all contributing in some form or fashion.

Adding players that can contribute either immediately or at some point in their rookie season will likely be important, but not the overriding factor. A guy like Jameson Williams could be a player at #13 or we pick a guy like Alec Pierce at #37 (although I'm afraid GB or KC will select him in the first). Depending on what we do at #13, I could see us trading back into the first with our 2nd and change.

I like a lot of guys between late 1st to early 4th depending on who's doing the evaluations. Here's my priority list of who I've looked at so far with range of draft spot...

    - Alec Pierce - WR (late 1-3); just love this kid's size and playmaking ability playing for a really good team.
    - Daniel Faalele - RT (late 1-4); monster of the draft with athletic ability, believe with more experience he could lock down RT for a decade
    - Charlie Kolar - TE (3-4); He reminds me of old school Raider/Oiler TE Dave Casper for some reason. Just think he has the skills/moxy to be really good.
    - Kenneth Walker - RB (2-3); One year wonder, so less wear/tear and he looks explosive--RB I like the best in this class.
    - James Cook - RB (3-4); love his versatility RB, slot and return game, plus he's comes from good stock.
    - Lewis Cine - S (late 1-2); electric tone setter, with great speed and good size.
    - Leo Chenal - LB (2-4); another old school thumper, who's a freak, but maybe better suited as OLB in 34 defense.
    - Jelani Woods - TE (4-6); a bit of a diamond in the rough, but what potential with his size and athletic ability.
    - Skyy Moore - WR (2-3); very polished pass catcher/route runner who is both fast/quick. Mills to Moore!

Yeah I want to draft either Woods or Kolar.

Kyren Williams seems to have dropped and I like that..hope we can get him late in the draft.

Are you thinking Ojabo at #37? That would be great value and it looks like that injury is returnable, but really not until 2-3 yrs after.

    Haven't looked at Haskins yet.

Depending on how the draft is shaking possibly.

And yeah Haskins has ties to Ben McDaniels and Pep…I like Haskins I’ve seen comparisons for him to Gus Edwards.

I really really love Kyren Williams tho…Austin eckler vibes and a classic New England patriots RB that Caserio could love.

Haskins is an old school power back.
Not against that but he doesn’t offer much wiggle or speed

Would any of these hypotheticals intrigue y’all? The only 1 I would consider is the eagles trade…and even that is probably a no.

No, none of those have the value needed.
    Chiefs deal for the 13th
Giants deal would need the 5th pick and not the 7th
Philly deal 13th pick and a 2nd for that deal
