The song is a patriotic American song written and sung in English. If you want to sing patriotic French, or German, or Vietnamese songs in English be my guest. I'm guessing they'll bristle at it similarly in those countries.

I at first found the song slightly offensive, but by the end of it, I found it quite beautiful. We are the melting pot and we are the land of opportunity. The meaning of the song is what matters, not the language its spoken in.
