Thank you for posting this, durvasa. Had not seen it yet. It's funny to see Feigen talk, I have read so many articles from him over the years, but it's the first time I see him talk. Comes across like a really nice guy. What I take from this is that we are looking to either sign Dikembe or (and) get a better backup C than Butler. Let's get Camby!!
Good find... A couple things stand out to me: 1) The talk about a veteran backup C "whether it's Dikembe or someone esle." Morey said he hopes to have Dikembe back, but I gather he's not confidence Dikembe won't choose something else. 2) The lack of talk about Mike James. Talked about adding SF (obviously, it was the SF press conference) and Aaron Brooks... but didn't talk about MJ. Hmm... 3) Also said that beyond trying to find John Lucas a home, there's nothing they need to do at PG until November 1st. So, he's not at all uncomfortable keeping Rafer on the team for a while. 4) I went back to listen to the TMac interview on 610. Also a curious absence of MJ talk at the beginning until the hosts brought his name up... I really do wonder if MJ is a lock to not get traded again...
I think it would be wise to trade him at the first opportunity, from a business standpoint, preferably for some expiring contracts. He is owed almost 20 million over the next three years (if he picks up his player option, which he will), already 32 years old, and we now have a cheaper and better player in Steve Francis with a similar skill set. I don't see what Mike James brings to the table that Francis and Head together do not bring to the table - and both of them together cost us less than Mike James does.
If MJ got traded that would indicate complete confidence in SF's health and sanity. I don't have that confidence.

The problem is that Francis is really only signed for 1 year, he has a player option for year 2. MJ is a player that is locked in at a decent salary, I would not be looking to trade him until we find out if Francis is: A. Going to fit into his role here B. Going to sign for longer DD
