Man this is great new I became a rockets fan because of him back in 2000. But just one question, both francis and tmac needs the ball in their hands to creat for themselves and the team. Would tmac and francis have a problem fighting over possesions????? anyone who is more knowledged about both can answer this
Anyone else sick of hearing all the cry babies on 790 & 610 complain about this move? More annoying than War protestors...
It's a great thing because it's a low cost move with VERY high potential.. What’s not to like about it, the fact that Steve can create his own shots or the fact he plays with more heart and emotion than all of lasts years team combined?? I'm going to have to strongly disagree with your last statement of Steve not being as good as Rafer or Brooks, that's just crazy IMO..
I love Brooks and he seems like a great pick, but I feel like a lot of people are expectin him to be great because of his play this summer. But remember when we were all getting excited about Dan Langhi droppin 23 and 6 assists on Lamar Odom in a summer league game. That year he was averaging like 20 points a game and many people, including me were all over his nuts, lets just not get too high on Brooks just yet. Welcome Back Stevie!!!!!!
Like the Scola trade, I have to record my voice in this thread for posterity. This team is so gonna own in 2007/2008.
Well T-Mac said he spoke to Steve & they both agreed at this point in their carriers its all about winning. Which means the guy whos hot and knocking down the shots will be the go to man. They just have to learn to spread the wealth not just keep it all for them selves & I belive they will.
anyone want to take odds on the likelihood that Francis will turn the ball over on his first possession?
Please forgive me. It just felt like twice as many to's as dimes. I guess I was adding in all the 23 seconds of dribbling followed by a 31 foot fling. How did he end up 15/5/5? I would like to know how he only did 15 when Rudy iso-d him every time down the floor. The five rebounds was nice, though. How do you get to the all-star game 3 times? Yeah, because the fans always vote in the best players, right? 4)Spurs wanted cap room. Other than the spurs, don't blame me for idiot GM's. Heck, Dawson unloaded Mo Taylor.
yao becoming the 2nd coming of dream is alot more important to this year's team becoming the best rockets team ever than Adelman becoming the next Rudy T. Honestly I never considered Rudy to be that great an x's and o's coach. He was great at managing a mostly veteran team and he had the true league mvp in Dream. Certainly he did a great job coaching those teams, but in the end it is always the players who make or break you. I will say that good drafting was a big part of what set us up for those title runs. In drafting Horry and Cassel we got 2 huge pieces, and hopefully this years drafts/signings will bring similar success. I think this team is drastically improved from the end of the season, at least on paper. Playing devil's advocate, it seems alot of you want to pencil in the Mike James and Steve Francis from several years back, rather than the players who couldn't earn starting positions on lottery teams. Likewise we all want and hope that Bonzi will contribute next season, but then again we hoped that last year too. Morey has done a much better job than I expected to this point and I could not grade him any lower than an A so far given his salary cap restrictions and lack of assets to trade. But until the team plays and we see how the chemistry works out, and we get a real feel for how these now 30 + year old shoot first PG's who's games rely on quickness and are coming off bad years do, it is premature to make greatest rockets team ever annointments.
Actually, he put up 19/6/6 when he was with the Rockets. I believe at that time, only Kobe and KG were putting up similar numbers. And the all-time list of players who average those numbers is very short.
That's funny! I'm not sold on the move, I'm anxious to see what other trades are in the hopper; maybe then it will all make more sense. I can't see Steve starting and I'm not sure he'll like coming off the bench. I wonder how and if that will effect chemistry.
Yeah, because the previous GM could never get any talent to come to Houston. Barkley, Drexler, Hakeem, Pippen, etc..etc..etc..etc..etc..etc..etc... Don't kid yourself, players know the type of game they enjoy playing in, and a coach they will like playing for........and Adelman is that guy. DD
This is a perfect situation for Steve to walk into IMO. I was always a big Francis hater, but for 2 reasons 1. His contract KILLED the opportunity for us to get any other good talent and 2. He could never developed his game to be a number one or 2 option on a contending team. Neither of those things matter now. We have him for next to nothing and we have plenty of other talent to carry the load when he's shooting poorly...plus he'll be playing in an uptempo system which should provide him with plenty of highlight moments which never hurts.
