Didnt plow through the entire thread, so excuse me if it has been mentioned. Let me get this straight. Instead of Alston, Lucas, and Spanoulis, we have Francis, James, and Brooks. Morey, you are a stud. You took a low pick and no cap space and made us from a seven man team to a team that is as deep as any in the NBA. I cant even begin to tell you the high I feel and the excitement for the upcoming season. I am thrilled Steve is back, yes for sentimental reasons, but more importantly, basketball reasons. This has been the greatest offseason in years. The funny thing was that I thought the summer of 2005 was great when we got Swift and Anderson. That didnt work out to well, but I have a good feeling this will be different.
yes, and during the month of march the kincks went 5 and 9. if you like individual highlights than perhaps "stevie fools gold" (copyright jo mama 2007) is your man, but if you want to play winning basketball you might want to think again.
It's a relaunch for Steve Francis..he's coming here to finish what he started. All the pieces are in place, expectations will be high
the key word is the KNICKS the knicks have been a mess since jvg left and even now after stevie's gone they're still a mess but it doesnt change the fact that steve still has game in him
Smart Rockets. Now we can trade Tmac for Kobe, Yao for Garnet, and 2 years later, bring them all back
Man, this is already a lengthy thread, just add my $0.02: Big props to Steve coming back, in my mind, there is always a spot for him in Rox, it is just meant to be. Man this is one good summer.
ZOMG!!!!! I was driving back to College Station from Houston on highway 290 when I heard the news about us getting Stevie back. I LITERALLY started to pump my fist and let out a few WHOOP!'s.....Man, I was so happy. I literally haven't been this excited about the Rockets coming season in LONG LONG time. MJ, Stevie, TMAC, Scola, Yao....WOW! As you can tell, I'm a fan of Stevies. He's a low risk move, kind of like Bonzi was last year. I'm excited! Go ROCKETS! You've won me back!
It's not assist numbers that matter so much as assist to turn over ratios. consider how much Steve dominated the ball while in houston in comparison to Alston. There is no question that Francis is a better scorer one on one, and better at creating his own shot. Certainly I expect him to be a positive contributor to the team. It's just I personally see him taking about 10 minutes of Rafer's time and perhaps some of Head and Battier's play time rather than replacing Rafer all together.
ZOMG! I'm so excited! We have a few players that bring some FURRY and HEART to this team. Time to light a fire under our laid back star's asses. Stevie is all heart. Scola has shown FIRE. We haven't had this since JB and SURA played. I'm So DAMN EXCITED.....AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh
I Absolutely LOVE this deal. Anything over Raer is a huge step up for the Rockets!. Great job Morey, between this and Scola we are looking like a real contender in te southwest next year
I'm not picking on you so don't think this is directed specifically towards you. But... People complain that Francis dominated the ball and was turnover prone. True on all fronts but did we forget that he was not only our PG but also our BEST SCORER? When you mix both elements up, of course turnovers will roll out more frequently. A smaller example is Joe Johnson in Atlanta. They've been devoid of a point guard since he's there so he has to be the playmaker AND their best scorer. The guy is averaging 3 TOs a game. Of course, I know that Steve's PG skills is not anything to write home about but I am confident that he can distribute the ball well on THIS team. He has options at pretty much every position and that pressure to put up 20 a night is all but gone.
Stevie, I've loved you for eight years and have never stopped loving you. Stay here at home for the rest of your career. Love, Shannon
