Even though Steve will be in a much less prominent role than when he was here before, it will be great to see Yao get his friend back playing with him again. It could also give us a few more options off the bench, or for various match-ups. It is also amazing that he was the key piece in the T-Mac deal and now we have both of them as Rockets.

wilbon says we can get the 4th or 5th seed and the white guys says they couldn't even do that last year. huh? what a dumbass. we won 51 games had the 4th best record in the western conference, and just added 5 significant pieces. it doesn't guarantee anything but i'm looking at the rockets as serious contenders going into the year.
Francis is serious high risk/high reward territory. He could really screw this team up with his playing style and his attitude or he could really be the spark we need.
Wow, almost 800 replies already. I didn't mind seeing him go, but I am glad to have him back at this price and with the understanding that his role on the team will be different. He'll be much more willing to play that role now that he left and come back, I think. Our window is now 3-4 years given the ages of the core four players, although we can still be a contender if Yao stays healthy for a few more years after that if the team retools appropriately post-TMac.
You're right. Since Hayes has always been a Rocket, we do have his Bird rights. I knew of the 3 year rule, but that is with traded players. "Theoretically, a player with Bird rights can be traded at the trade deadline right before becoming a free agent and his new team can use the Bird exception to re-sign him. There is no specific tenure requirement with one team. The only rule is that the player can't have been waived or changed teams as a free agent for three seasons. However, if a team renounces a player (see question number 33), they can't use the Bird exception to re-sign him for one year." http://members.cox.net/lmcoon/salarycap.htm#25

I'm on vacation. This is what being away from Clutchfans does. Nice pickup though. Morey for GM of the Year. Man we are STACKED.
Now that we are all GLAD that SF3 is back, what do you guys think the Starting Line-up and Bench will be for the oifficial roster? Post your replies in this form Starters: 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) Bench 6) ETC Thx
I would think we're getting to LT level, esp since we have not sign Landry, Hayes & Deke yet. Even if we trade Head, Lucas, & Alston, don't we have to get some player with salary back or something due CBA, not just picks?
Come to think of it, whether SF is a fit here is arguable, but SF definitely made a right choice for himself, shows you his maturity. A younger SF would be almost certainto join his boyfriend Mobely and biz partner Cassel in LA. That would show his brotherhood, but it would be real bad situation for him IMO. Instead he choose to forget about us trading him away and come back. He had his heydays, made allstar here, still has fans here, news media more or less more generous to him. And I think the biggest reason could be, well, Yao and the Chinese factor. You will be surprised how many fans SF still has in China. I browse thru several chinese bball websites today, fans there are beyond excited. This is a more mature Francis after 4 year exile. I hope we will see a new SF next year.
By my calculations we are just over the LT (by less than 1 million). However that includes Sura's salary. So we can either use the $1 million buyout clause for Bobby or we can use his salary for a better player and pay the LT. Or we could trade players to teams under the cap or to teams with a trade exception (getting nothing back but picks or cash).
