I think this is a good move. Hopefully low cost/risk, high reward. I think Francis has PLENTY left in the tank, and frankly, this could reenergize him and revive his career. He also fits well with the new style we will be playing. I also think we'll see a different Steve Francis this time around. We won't see all the isolation plays, and Steve has the ability to push the ball up the floor. McGrady hopefully will not allow anything but smart play from Steve (barring an ill-advised shot here and there). As for Scola, I think he'll be solid and play his role, but I am not overly excited about him. I hope he exceeds my expectations though. I'm looking forward to this season.
Let us get Artest, then the start lineup is: YAO Artest Battier Tracy Steve My god......................what a wonder world.

SPLASH!!! Wow. So many mixed emotions. Now that he's a Rocket again, I'll root for him. I hope he isn't the same player we had 3-4? years ago....
HELL YEAH! Talk about a dream come true. I been wanting Francis back ever since he got traded to NY. Never thought we really had a chance until now and then it actually happens. I haven't been this happy since I found out T-Mac would be a Rocket. The best part, he wants to be here. It's not about the money, he loves this team and the city. IMO, there needs to be more players with that attitude. Obivously before signing, he knows that YAO and T-Mac are the focal points. Steve is definitely not going to cause any problems.
The Rockets are getting to the point where they don't even NEED anything in return this year for their trade assets. Luther Head and Kirk Snyder for partially-protected first round picks, anyone???
Very nice.... I see Steve as an important rotation player...a hybrid 1/2...The guy is definitely not a true PG. I am confident that he'll play his role and we won't have to experience dribblearama. ANYBODY KNOW ABOUT THE STATUS OF HIS KNEE? Also Aaron Brooks is going to see much more time than most think... Look for Alston to be dealt soon. And I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Luther. It was obvious JVG had him on a short leash.I think given a chance to play within himself and this team's concept that he'll excell.
Seriously, after this, our team is DEEP except for maybe the PF position. Even if no other big moves are made, barring injury, we are set for a championship run. James/Alston/Brooks T-Mac/Francis/Head Bonzi/Battier/Novak Scola/Hayes/Landry Yao/Deke/Butler Reed, Snyder, JLIII, Sura gone. I'm almost scared of what other "long-shots" Morey has lined up.
all the people with some form of 'steve francis' in their bbs name can breathe a huge sigh of relief................
Does anyone see a problem here with MJames, Bonzi, and Francis all on the same team, and all possibly not starting? These are three guys who want to play a lot of minutes, and will let you know if they aren't getting enough court time. Are there team chemistry problems on the way?
My biggest fear is that because of this deal they trade a known commodity--rafer-- and then Francis then lets everyone down by playing like crap. Boot snyder reed, etc. and leave room on the bench for Rafer if it doesn't work out. If it does, trade rafer halfway through the season.
When I opened up the front page and saw Francis... I literally got chills throughout my whole body. SCORE!!!!!!!!
