Yes that low pass to Owen was crucial, it was a 3rd down play and we were trying to eat up the clock. But we also dodged a bullet when Ben overthrew an open WR in the left corner of the endzone. So there is a lot of what ifs in the game. We held a quality opponent to 10 points and grinded out a win. I'll take it.
no one said they wouldn't take it. i was happy for them. i just am concerned about the future, we need this guy to be solid at all times
They just beat the f-ing Steelers with Andre Johnson and Ben Tate on the bench and you're b****ing about Schaub? Jesus Christ, are Texans fans incapable of just enjoying a big f-ing win?
I know it's the norm, but it's really tiresome when guys have to take "concerns" and morph that into "b****ing." Extremism! When throwing things completely out of context makes slam posting easier! We've got a camp that is being clear: no negatives allowed after W's. I'd ask that you try and understand that no one is upset with the team or mad at them. Everyone's happy about the win. I and others see things to work on and room for improvement, that's all we're trying to discuss on a BBS for discussion. Ric, you talk about quality of opponents...Mia and Ind are both 0-4 disasters. Steelers are now 2-2, courtesy of the dreadful Seahawks and Colts. I'm thrilled the Texans are 3-1 at this point. I don't expect the Texans to be perfect, but I'd like them to realize their potential. And from where I sit, they've had stretches where the offense has coasted and let other teams hang around. Colts were too impotent to make a run, but Miami and Pittsburgh both tightened things up uncomfortably close. Saints took advantage and closed us out 23-7 to finish the game. I'm not saying they suck - I'm positive they're making the postseason with at least 10 wins. But they've got things to work on. Schaub needs to step up and prove that Johnson isn't propping up his standing as a QB. The defense is doing terrific - I don't think the most optimistic homer would have thought they'd be this terrific so soon. The pass he threw squarely into both hands of a defender at chest level....that the defender miraculously bobbled into the hands of Kevin Walter (not the intended target) for a TD. No, Schaub does not deserve praise for that. Just like he wouldn't deserve blame if Concrete Hands Jones knocks down a picture perfect ball.
You're going to be one b****y person for Schaub's duration here then. He is not without flaws, and some of those will always be a part of him. To paraphrase Edna Garret; you take the good you take the bad and there you have, the facts of Schaub.
Unless there is a way to get Rodgers, Brady, or Brees...then we'd be taking a lateral step by replacing Schaub. Not sure why anyone expects Schaub to be elite. He is a very good QB who has his flaws, like 28 other QBs in the league. Expecting perfection from Brady is silly, let alone expecting perfection from Schaub. Fact is that if we have any issues on the team, Matt won't be found anywhere near the top of that list.
Which one is worse T-Mac or Schaub in the eyes of loyal Houston fans?... Tmac who couldnt get us out the 1st round or Schaub who hasnt guided us to the 1st round........ Dilemna in the making if we dont (for whatever reason) make the playoffs.......
Agreed. This is a Quality Win or at least looks that way now 3-1 is still 3-1 LIKES: Texans winning more than they losing while having warts and hopefully working on them DisLikes : They still have warts! Seems either you a think they can do no wrong . . or you a hater Rocket River
Since 2008, Schaub has actually been pretty doggone good in the 4Q of close games. You can pinpoint failures here and there - they all have them. But the body of work overall has been very good. I do. In my mom's basement, too. WHILE WEARING MY UNDERWEAR - BUUUUUUUUURN!!! I watch once; usually with my 15-month old tearing s’ up. It's not rocket surgery. I like how we arbitrarily decide what's important. "Those other games? Those were cakewalks and since he had NOTHING to do with their cakewalkingness, they don't count." That's very convenient of you.
They’re on pace to win 12 games. They’ve pretty thoroughly dominated in their 3 wins and had the Saints beat pretty convincingly through 3Qs. What potential are they not reaching, assuming the potential isn’t the ’07 Patriots? Good teams have 4Qs like the Texans did against the Saints. Ask the Patriots about it. (And the Bills aren’t nearly the team New Orleans is.) Yeah, I mean, it’s so unlike the Saints and Steelers to keep games close, make in-game adjustments, and find ways to win - I mean, those perennial loser never do that on a regular basis. And need I remind you (again): They’ve played with Foster and Johnson for all of 3Qs this year. I think we’re seeing the dirty remnants of the rising popularity of the draft, where fans waste an ordinate amount of time poking holes in prospects. No, they most assuredly don’t suck. And they’re one of 32 teams that aren’t perfect. But what we ARE seeing is a team finding a lot of different ways to win – passing, running, defense, special teams……. Other than Green Bay, I don’t see a team in football that, on any given Sunday, is appreciably better. But sure – let’s spend the Monday after a huge win picking it apart. Schaub has completed 49 passes and thrown 5 TDs to players not named Andre Johnson. Let’s not go overboard here. pgabriel specifically mentioned a TD pass to AJ. If he meant the one to Walter… who cares? Yes, it was a bad pass. He played terribly in the 4Q of that game. But I can’t believe we’re going to get into a discussion of “almost.” And if we do, get ready to relive the ’09 and ’10 seasons when Schaub did enough to put us in position to win no less than 6 games some other faction of the team eventually lost.
Name the NFL's wart-free team. I can't believe THIS fanbase has gone from wanting the head coach fired for a 6-10 season to expecting some heretofore unattainable level of perfection. Good teams overcome the warts and win games like yesterday. I guess you can focus all you want on the warts; but then you're missing a team learning how to play around them. It's actually quite fun.
Post game interviews. Love it, Arian's hat followed by Smith's hat. Awesome. Love listening to Smith talk. http://www.nfl.com/videos/houston-texans/09000d5d822c3ba1/Texans-postgame-press-conference
