Well they got 49.9 bWAR and 52.9 fWAR from the top 15 last year and that included McCullers, Brantley, and McCormick with significantly less than full season full-time numbers.
is Yordan going to deal with this hand injury for the rest of his career? offseason didn't heal it. looks like the same on again off again problem of last year.
This doesn’t sound good… teams that they have until March 31 to reach an agreement to take their rights back. If the RSNs can’t reach deals with the teams, the channels eventually plan to move forward with a Chapter 7 liquidation filing.“
Is there going to be any correlation to a starting pitcher tiring sooner in a game than normal due to the pitch clock? Akin to doing super sets in the gym vs taking regular rest in between sets.
This is my thinking. On the flip side the batter shouldn't be allowed to call time with under 8 seconds on the clock. Although this is probably not feasible unless the home plate ump is notified electronically when that time has come to pass. Actually screw that, the batter should never be allowed to call time.
per mlb.com: The pitcher must begin his motion to deliver the pitch before the expiration of the pitch timer Pitchers who violate the timer are charged with an automatic ball. Batters who violate the timer are charged with an automatic strike. Batters must be in the box and alert to the pitcher by the 8-second mark or else be charged with an automatic strike. [wtf does "alert to the pitcher actually mean"? ] With runners on base, the timer resets if the pitcher attempts a pickoff or steps off the rubber. Pitchers are limited to two disengagements (pickoff attempts or step-offs) per plate appearance. However, this limit is reset if a runner or runners advance during the plate appearance. If a third pickoff attempt is made, the runner automatically advances one base if the pickoff attempt is not successful. Mound visits, injury timeouts and offensive team timeouts do not count as a disengagement. If a team has used up all five of its allotted mound visits prior to the ninth inning, that team will receive an additional mound visit in the ninth inning. This effectively serves as an additional disengagement. Umpires may provide extra time if warranted by special circumstances. (So if, as an example, a catcher were to be thrown out on the bases to end the previous half-inning and needed additional time to put on his catching gear, the umpire could allow it.) eta: I think Maldy and Lee and every C in MLB are going to make a bunch more throws to 1B behind the runner. So much for speeding the game up.
