The need for SP is no different whether we bring in a SP from outside or bring up a SP from within. It all boils down to which is better on the year. There are several options in the minors and a couple of more in the Bull Pen who would have to be replaced, also with prospects in the minors.

And if we go with 5 days rest rather than a 6 man rotation, we have enough early days off McCullers is likely back before we need a sixth starter anyway (more than 6 consecutive games).

The cool thing is we don't. But if he lives up to anything remotely close to his potential, we become that much better.

At this point, Whitley is like a project. If it works, great. If it doesn't, Oh Well.

No, not open to even the possibility.
    • As said before, he's young and works hard. Getting naturally jacked in a few months isn't unheard of and he already had the foundation.
    • There's no way the Astros are going to let any of their players slide with any sort of PED, because any single infraction is going to be so much worse for the organization than any other non-'cheating scandal' team.

Peña is young, full of testosterone. Easy to get ripped at that age.

It's funny that some people are acting like he was a skinny kid last season.

Not to mention the infamous shirtless Insta pic from two years ago. He's been jacked for years.

He gets 3 high fastballs in that video clip. He swings through the first and then takes the next two. Did you watch the whole video?

I love tuve to death but i wouldnt give him a sizeable extension. 2 years or so. The e fanbase reminds me of how they treated Hakeem when he went to the raptors. It's okay to lose your stars after they've peaked.

People get so defensive of tuve as if someone's attacking their child lol

Exactly. This is the opportunity to let some of the minor leaguers have a chance and see what they can do. LMJ wasn't going to pitch 200 innings for this team anyway, so might as well have him injured now.

He has one terrible postseason and people act like he doesn't have a track record a mile long of being rock solid in October

Playoff choker Altuve, what have you done for me lately you little scrub

Altuve hit .308 in 2022 WS
425 playoff plate appearances and you are bound to hit a slump at some point.

Dude might be the best pure athlete at the shortstop position, better than Correa, Arod, Lindor. Those guys all have much better bat to ball skill and plate discipline obviously, but you can’t convince me they’re as athletic as Pena.

Wasn’t worth signing. An injury waiting to happen.

Verlander alone last year pitched 222 innings. Where are you making that up from? Framber can’t be the only workhorse.
