Nah. I agree with @Nook ... I would be shocked if he's juicing. I could put on mass like that quickly and naturally in my 20's and earlier 30's and I wasn't a pro athlete, just a gym rat.
Look, if LMJ starts in May or June I'm pretty reasonably happy with that result. I mean- major league starter not starting to throw in June. Just a reminder- all sprains are tears, so not necessarily reason to panic (we should all probably panic). Forest Whitley going to save us all.
So brutal. McCullers is a gamer and it’s gotta wear on him so bad to constantly be hurt. Hope his mental fortitude holds up. If all he ends up being is a guy who has a long career averaging 70-90 innings a year it won’t be the end of the world and he’d still be worth his contract, especially if he is consistently available/effective in the postseason. He is a postseason pitcher.
Omg Lance, already? Man I really wish after JV walked we could have signed a veteran SP for depth, like Eovaldi or something.
Ultimately starting his season a few weeks late may as well be the norm, he can't stay healthy for 6 straight months anyway. As long as he's back in swing by midseason it's not a big deal. If Brandon Bielak or someone else has to make 15-20 starts for us it won't be the end of the world. I'm personally not a big fan of paying money for a 7th starter JAG who likely won't be much better than a guy we have in AAA. People b****ed and moaned incessantly about Odorizzi and he was likely better than anybody we will sign.
Would've been difficult signing one with them knowing they're 6th or even 7th in the pecking order and being released or traded for a bag of chips if/when everyone is healthy.
These short off-seasons are taking their toll. not enough time to recover. final game in November and first game of the season in a month.
It's like being open to the idea that you a child molesting Russian Spy. Highly unprobable, but I'm open to the possibility.
As much as I like baseball being played again, I could do without chicken littles running around telling us the sky is falling.
I trust Urquidy over Lance in the postseason. Morton bailed him out after he nailed 4 batters in less than 3 innings in Game 7 back in 2017.
Lance needs to be handled with kid gloves anyways. Wasn't his full-time starter status questionable from day 1? 162 innings is his career best and that season ended injured right before the World Series All his other seasons are 125 innings or less The team should probably skip a few starts even after he returns
