Red Sox-Braves was tied 6-6, bases loaded, full-count...and it ended in a tie because the Braves hitter didn't get set in time..so automatic strike to end the game.
I'm with you on all points 100%. Strikeout or Home Run era of baseball is hopefully over. It was total garbage.
Yep... Dirden is at or near the top of my list of prospects to watch. I will get to see him live several times in Sugar Land this season. Starting LF for the Astros in 2024
The change I hate the most is limit on pick-offs. Are pitchers just screwed if they use them up? I can see a speedy, small-ball team like the Guardians improving drastically because of these changes
You get 2, if you try a 3rd time it becomes do or die and the runner gets to advance if you try to pick him off again and fail. IMO the pitch clock is a tad aggressive, but not having 800 step offs or throw overs is an absolute no brainer to make happen. More action on the basepaths (which I don't expect) would be a good thing for baseball.
Great, if you are gonna do it it than do it seriously and not arbitrarily. Players will adjust. Fast games aren't new, the sport used to be played closer to this pace.
Are pitchers gonna be credited for a K in those situations. It seems kind of silly if they do. Ghost runners dont go against era.
So not only does the batter need to be in the box, he has to be "alert and looking at the pitcher" at 8 seconds.
So the catcher doesn't have to be set but the batter does? That's probably what threw the batter off.
I think they should disregard the rule on 3-2 counts. Full counts are so tense..for them to end because of a pitch clock violation is very anti-climatic.
It’s just going back to the speed it was in 1988 or so. Pitchers used to do this automatically (and hitters) and games went 2:30. baseball wasn’t meant to take 45- 60 seconds with zero action in between pitches. If you are 40 years old or more all this is doing is taking you back to when you were a kid. If you are 60 or over it still isn’t close to what you grew up watching where games routinely checked in at 2:00 hours.
