Thanks for pointing this out! If I am not going to win the spelling contest, at least I want to claim the most scalps!!!! Zac D...brace yourself . P.S.: codell, I can understand that you just could not believe that I am no longer in the contest .
mduke and SJC, My bad. I didn't see yalls conversation about my kill of mduke. I thought he was putting part of his post in bold for emphasis. Codell -1 Kill SJC +1 Kill
Textfiles. Textfiles. Textfiles. I will like to petition for an addition to the English Language. That so much should be a word. And also, that is the latest kill ever I think. My post was up there forever before heypartner tore it down. But I guess being the only post in that forum the last couple of days left my name there as an open target. To my defense, a weak one I might add, is that (=textfiles=) is a highly used expression in the CM League and I dont think our spelling will go away. To me textfiles sounds so much more right than that other combo I will not even utter. Me be dead. The English language sucks.
Next: Spelling game in German (my spelling in German is obviously much better than in English). I won't participate in the Chinese spelling contest...
How about the Norwegian one? Can that be next after the German? I'll join in on the German one if you join a Norwegian one!
That is so cool. And I guess under the current rules "snakker Norsk" is good enough, but using that example "snakke Norsk" would be the right grammar. Så hvordan har du lært deg Norsk? Vært lenge i Norge?
Gosh Heath, you're reminding me of how little Norwegian I remember However I can read and understand it fairly well still. I learned my Norsk in Stavanger. When I was 9 (1990) we moved to Norway and I lived there for 3 1/2 (returned 1993) years. I'd answer in Norwegian, but over the course of the past ten years, I've taken French, Spanish and French again. It all runs together pretty badly now. I'll try to speak in one language and I use words from the others. I'm seriously thinking of taking up Norwegian again though, as I found the "Ny i Norge" books the other day. How do you know Norwegian?
I'm from a town called Alta (Finnmark) in the northern parts of Norway. I have lived here all my life (and still do) except for a couple of years in Narvik (Nordland) where I studied. During those years our class had one week class/party trip to Florida. We visited Buena Vista and Fort Lauderdale (flew in and out from Orlando). We also had daytrips to Miami (visiting among other things the University) and Kennedy Space Center. And we also visited a Motorola plant, although I don't remember where that was located.
hey now. You guys should type "textfile" into google and see what the top line says. Someone please show me textfile in any dictionary. It's like hiphop taking out dimsie. Google disagrees with that as well. These recently invented "words" are very dangerous to use without first clearing them with a dictionary. Just because German has a strange propensity to make compound words that are nearly entire phrases doesn't mean English does in any English dictionary. I tried to warn you earlier. These are the ones that generally end the game for the "best" spellers.
heypartner, I think you misunderstand: I did not protest the kill, so don't think I'm whining. After all a spelling contest exit is not the end of the world.
Man, how many times does it have to be said that the most common spelling mistake is misuse of hyphenations or lack thereof. "toll-road" is not a word sorry Vengeance...you are dead.

Whenever I've needed to go north to, or south from the CWMP or Dallas, I usually take the toll-road. I've never seen more than five cars on it though.

I have no sympathy for this kill. Don't invent compound words or hyphenated words. Funny thing is that the title of the thread spelled it correctly, so Vengeance took it upon himself to spell it differently. http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=49190
