Should I start Cam Newton or Phillip Rivers this week? Normally I would say easy call for Cam but Rivers is on a hot streak and playing the Raiders.
obviously this is a deal YOU are proposing. I would laugh at you honestly if you wanted to trade me cj spiller for ammy and bernard. I wouldn't trade you bernard for spiller straight up much less give you amendola.
Bell could help with opposing defenses not focusing all their attention to the passing attack. Heath will hurt Brown's chances of getting in the end zone but again he should be able to open the passing attack that much more now that all the defense's attention isn't on Brown and Sanders anymore. That offense is going to be a lot better with those additions, imo.
First and foremost, a RB in return for a WR plays in your favor. I shouldn't have to tell you that. Second, if you look at Johnson's fantasy output over the last 2 seasons, you'll see he's started every season slow, and friggin kills it late season. WR can be easily replaced, RBs cannot. so it goes without saying that the more RB depth you can add the better. Look at your free agents. Antonio Brown can be replaced, Chris Johnson cannot. Edit: I bet you think Eddie Royal is better than Chris Johnson based on a 4 game sample, huh? lol With Jake Locker out, Chris Johnson can only get more involved.
If you have other RBs, I do this in a heartbeat. Eddie Lacy is still unproven and may share the backfield with Jonathan Franklin. Dez Bryant is a monster.
The only problem is that you are still putting Chris Johnson in the role that he used to play and be which he no longer is. He is far from the superstar RB that would consistently nab you 20 pts. plus per game. If you drafted CJ?K over Megatron last year I'm sure your team made it nowhere near the playoffs. Just because you're adding depth at RB doesn't mean its good depth. He can easily go after a guy like Gio Bernard for Brown to add depth and that would definitely pay off over hoping that Chris Johnson regains his 2009 form. OH btw, I picked up Eddie Royal in exactly 0 of the 4 leagues I'm in. The funny part is you still think CJ?K is a stud..... that guy is done and has been for a while now.
In a 14 player league, Standard format and there isn't many RB's out there. Kendell Hunter Or Michael Bush? Who should i pick up?
I see your logic, and how Johnson must have screwed you in a few of your leagues in the past At this point I don't think he has to make a trade for more running back depth since he already has some solid running backs. Personally though, I would make this trade. A few injuries to 1 or 2 of your RBs and all of a sudden you basically have an empty spot. Nobody can fill in that production. A WR spot can be rotated week in week out based on matchups. I don't feel that translates to the RB position so I tend to value RBs more. And for what it's worth, I would never trade away Geo Bernard for Brown. We won't know who's right until the rest of the season plays out. Anything can happen. Impossible to predict.
It was intended as a joke since you compared 4 games worth of fantasy points. Same logic would put Royal ahead of a lot of people.
Of course, everyone values RBs over any other position in standard scoring formats. But you don't trade quality players for run of the mill RBs just to add depth. And no I wouldn't trade Gio for Brown either that's just an example and who knows if someone gets desperate and trades a guy like Lacy or L. Miller because they're getting off to slow starts... as you said you never know especially when desperation sets in. And no I stayed away from Chris in past years, actually had him his rookie year and a few times in between then and his 2,000 yard explosion, since then I've drafted to early for me to have to reach on him. Last year I actually made a trade for him but that was more for V-Jax then for Chris Johnson. Basically you try to find quality fantasy players over just any ole running back hoping that he'll regain his star form, especially when he hasn't shown the smidgen of getting back to that status.
I agree, but I guess I just don't give enough credit to Antonio Brown. I can't remember ever having drafted Chris Johnson for the same reason (he's usually drafted too early).
