I've got Matthew Stafford as my backup QB in my leagues. I've been trying to trade him for a low RB1 / high RB2... I've gotten an offer to trade Matthew Stafford and Deangelo Williams for Frank Gore. I'm thinking the upgrade at RB will be excellent, but wondering if I could get better. Should I make the trade?

I literally typed up my reasoning for going with Grossman until I remembered he is still Rex Grossman.

I like his matchup against a weak Dallas secondary better, and he'll probably have more passing opportunities than Hasselbeck, but I still don't trust him to not throw boneheaded interceptions or randomly fumble to football.

If you can live with the risk of a Grossman meltdown, he has the greater potential in week 3(imo), but the safer choice is Hasselbeck

I would try to get a better offer. I have Gore in a standard league and so far he has performed like a low RB2/ high RB3. I'd continue to shop around and try to find a better offer before pulling the trigger.

I was offered Steve Johnson of the Bills and Deon Branch in return for L. Blount. and H. Ward.

I'm thinking a definite yes because of the following:

Johnson is the Bills #1 target but he was limping at the end of the game yesterday so that worries me.

Branch is a completely different player with Brady.

My wide receivers are pretty bad and this would give them instant oomph.

Blount isn't a receiving back. Sure he might tear it up on the ground but if the Bucs fall behind then he's out and Graham is in, just like we saw week 1.

Here is my lineup at the moment:

    QB: Kolb, Fitzgerald

RB: Rice, Bradshaw, Blount, F. Jackson, K. Moreno, R. Williams

WR: Fitzgerald, Julio Jones, J. Knox, H. Ward, D. Jones

    TE: J. Graham

    DEF: Eagles

    K: Feely

    YAY! or NAY!

    Week 3 WR strategery...

    Pick 3:
DeSean Jackson vs NYG - He crapped a gooseegg last week, will Vick be ok in time?
Deion Branch @ BUF - Starting to look like an automatic play with Brady in god mode
Steve Smith (Car) vs. JAC - Seems like an autoplay here
Robert Meachem vs. HOU - If he's being guarded by Kareem, I'm guaranteed a touchdown
Mario Manningham @ PHI - I love me some Mario, but that pass defense is insane
Dexter McCluster @ SD - A sneaky good play, since he will be playing the role of RB, WR, and KR from now on with Charles out

Vick is probably out multiple weeks if the NFL is serious about their concussion policy. Kafka does not have that big arm to get it to Jackson for those long touchdowns or plays either but that Giants pass defense is hurting big time.

Indeed. Branch has been solid these past two weeks, especially this last one against a good defense. Three of their next four are against some very mediocre defenses as well.

Yeah, Newton has surprised and Smith is looking great so far.

Too risky in my opinion. Brees has too many weapons at his disposal and Meachem just screams 1-2 points to me.

Yeah but that run defense is horrible. ;) Mannigham also has size, something the Eagles have trouble dealing with in wide receivers but he has Eli not Payton back there throwing his way.

Yeah, his value has shot up.

If you go three wide: Jackson, Smith, Branch

If you go two wide: Smith, Branch

I say YAY! Branch is looking like Brady's go to guy right now, and Johnson is without question the number 1 guy on a Bills team that is going to throw the ball. You've got a solid replacement for Blount, but those two guys would instantly be your 2nd and 3rd receivers.

I have to go with 3 wides.

If Vick is out, I'm starting McCluster over Jackson.

Our league counts return yards/tds, so that means I can triple dip with him at WR getting RB/WR/KR points.

It's a safer play than Jackson with a noob QB.

You get KR yards and PPR? Then McCluster is a not-so-sneaky good play. Otherwise, I'd stay away still

Desean, Deion, Steve seem like the clear plays at this point

Do it given the reasoning you posted, but more importantly the fact that you have Rice and Bradshaw with Fred to back them up...and most importantly, that your WR's aren't that good (I don't trust Julio at all in terms of putting up #'s)

    Not PPR, just KR yards/tds.

Yeah, I want to but the problem is come week 7 I have Fitzpatrick, Johnson, Jackson, Branch, Bradshaw and Eagles DEF on bye weeks. That means I'd have a starting lineup with a mix of:

    QB: Kolb vs. PIT

RB: Rice vs. JAX, Moreno (if healthy vs MIA)

WR: Fitzgerald vs. PIT, Knox vs. TB, Julio vs. DET

    TE: Graham vs. IND

    DEF: Play in

    K: Play in

I guess it would be good to get all those byes over with and maybe take a loss knowing that most of my byes are over after. This is what I'd be facing week 7:

    QB: Brees vs. IND

RB: Blount vs. CHI, Tolbert vs. NYJ, T. Jones vs. OAK

WR: Britt vs. HOU, Jennings vs. MIN, Floyd vs. NYJ

    TE: Witten vs. STL

Well, maybe it isn't a sure loss. Just got off the phone and he actually wants Blount for Branch and Johnson so I hope he sends it through.

Don't worry about that one week of Byes. Worry about those 13 other weeks where you are better off.

The only huge issue there is Moreno being healthy. Otherwise your lineup is just fine for a bye week lineup.. and I think you could try and fix that Moreno issue before hte time comes. Your roster isn't going to be stagnant

Johnson appears to be injured too though which has me hesitant on the deal, especially when the other player has Britt and Jennings and just lost Charles for the year.

    Here is his roster:

By the looks of it, I should hold all the leverage and should be able to pull a better deal. Then again I don't want to get too greedy. UGH!!!! Just not sure what the hell I want to do.

seems like johnson's planning on playing through it. No way to know for sure, but as some sites are pointing out, it is a contract year for him..

You hold leverage in this deal, but he lost Charles and will be looking to deal--you're not his only partner. Beware him moving on and finding something better..

I've somehow ended up with 6 legit starting running backs and not sure how play/flip them.

MJD, Michael Turner, Beanie Wells, Ahmad Bradshaw, Fred Jackson, and Daniel Thomas. I can only play 3 of them (2 RB's, 1 RB/WR). I am somewhat thin at WR (Desean Jackson, Brandon Lloyd who is injured, and Brandon Marshall). Any trade ideas with this bunch?

    Me.

    I'm liking Dexter McClusterf**k though.

If you get PPR or KR points, he may be a goldmine.
