Start TJ for sure. Jax defense isn't so hot against the pass (much better against the run), and who knows if Manning will even play for NYG. Even if he does, Manningham has cooled off a little with Steve Smith's emergence. If anybody, drop Manningham for Roy W. But it's certainly debatable. Williams hasn't been a big fantasy option in a couple of years.
Okay... Holmes or Sims-Walker? And which 2 of out of R. Rice, Lynch, Jones-Drew, F. Jackson, Addai, Benson
Nice backfield. I'd go Holmes (Detroit Secondary is stinksville) Pocket Hercules is a must start, other than him, thats quite a cluster**** you've got there... I'd probably lean toward Benson at this point (I still can't get it through my head that he's a legit starting RB). I think Rice is your safest bet to get touches and yards, but McGahee is shoplifting his paydirt on a weekly basis. Can't really go too wrong with anybody, but Jackson and Lynch seem to cancel each other out, so you're stuck flipping a coin between which one of them is going to get the lions' share of the touches. BTW - does anyone think Lesean McCoy is worth starting this week against the bad Tampa Bay Defense? I know Westbrook is back, but I'm wondering if they jump on them early if McCoy will end up getting a lot of garbage time touches.
DET secondary sucks, but PIT will be running the ball a lot I think.. I think it's really close on the WR and I'd personally go Sims-Walker cause I don't trust Santonio and think his week 1 was the fluke. But I still see that one as a coin flip on the RB, I'd 100% go MJD and Rice this week... the Ravens D has shut down RBs hard, and I don't think even Benson will bust through
That's a good point. I think he'll get carries either way...and I guess moreso if you think he might get garbage time work. (I feel like they'll keep it within about 20 points, so garbage time won't start until late...so I don't know that that should be a factor in the decision.) But really it just depends on the alternative you're looking at, of course..
Tough call. I'd say start him because he and Westbrook will split carries and I think that the Eagles coaching brass will limit Westbrook's touches the next two weeks against two of the worst teams in the NFL. After the games against the Buccaneers and the Raiders, the Eagles face the following teams in order: Washington, New York Giants, Dallas, San Diego, Chicago, Washington, Atlanta, New York Giants, San Francisco, Denver, Dallas. That's a pretty brutal stretch of games and one I am sure they want their stars healthy and ready for. I know a lot of people might say the Washington games are wins but Washington has had Philly's number of late, winning three of the last four. I myself cannot believe they're starting McNabb this week. I say give him this week and next week off to heal as much as possible for that stretch of games they have there.
I just read a piece on yahoo that said McCoy is still very much in the mix in the Philly offense, which I really like right now. I have him in virtually every league, because I just never trust Westbook to remain healthy, and I think even if Westbrook is healthy, they are going to try and work McCoy in a lot to preserve Westbrook for the postseason. PPR League - I'm 2nd in the league right now, and 2nd in total points. I got a huge game last week when I thought I would suck, Sims-Walker was a great bye-week filler. I need 6 starters this week from WR/WR RB/RB Flex Flex I'm already at a disadvantage because Aaron Rodgers is on bye, so I'm going with Trent Edwards vs the crap Cleveland Defense. Fitzgerald and Sims Walker will start for me this week at WR. At RB, I have Coffee right now starting (I own Gore, so just using him as a sub) and Kevin Smith who has been pretty consistent so far this season. So that leaves me with 4 options for my 2 Flex spots. Leon Washington @ MIA Lesean McCoy vs TB Braylon Edwards @ MIA Brent Celek vs TB (I start Dallas Clark) I'm leaning toward Celek or Washington and McCoy right now, but Washington seemed to have his workload diminished a bit last week, although he's still got a lot of value in a PPR. Miami's Defense has been pretty good so far. I'm almost thinking about starting Celek because he's been putting up better numbers this year than Fitzgerald to date. Dallas Clark has been my best fantasy option so far.
You can say what you want, but the Redskins suck worse than they ever have this year. Can't see that being a problem for the Eagles.. not this year
I'm with you on McCoy remaining involved. Like I said, I expect him to split the carries.. and like Pun said, especially these next 2 weeks. Of your 4 options...toss Braylon out immediately given that it's week 1 w/the Jets and he's done nothing so far this year. I actually like Washington a lot this week in a PPR league--I think he'll rake in checkdowns against the Miami D. So to me, you're between Celek (being the more sure option so far this year) and McCoy. With the question being, will Philly shut down the passing game and get McCoy a lot of work due to being up by a lot? You think McCoy will get the redzone duties over Westbrook for any reason? If so, that might be a reason to go with him. But Celek has been so consistent...hard to bench him for a question mark imo. I'd prob go Celek, but to me that's where the tossup happens. You seem to like McCoy a ton, so I bet you'll go with him..
Standard Yahoo League... I need 1 WR to go along with Randy Moss and Desean Jackson out of... Manningham vs Oak (Carr might be starting so I'm thinking no way), Harvin @ STL, Brandon Marshall vs NE. I'm thinking Marshall over Harvin right now, he looks like he's back... but Harvin could score from anywhere on the field against that craptastic St Louis Defense. then I need 1 RB to go along with Jones-Drew out of Slaton @ AZ, Rice vs Cinci, Mendenhall @ DET or McCoy vs TB is Mendenhall going to split touches this week, or will it even matter? Will Arizona / Houston turn into a passing duel? Slaton bounced back last week, but the Raiders are terrible. I think I'm leaning toward Mendenhall right now.
God yes, I was avoiding him like the plague to begin with in most drafts, as I thought Tampa Bay's offense would suck major ass to begin with, then all the sudden Cadillac re-emerges from the dead... he's worthless at this point IMO.
Between the wide receivers, I'd go with Harvin just because New England has a top 10 passing defense and they've faced some respectable passing competition their first 4 games. Of course, with Favre hurting the Vikings may ride Peterson and Taylor through the atrocious Rams defense. I'd go with Mendenhall as the running back. I don't think the Houston staff completely trusts Slaton to carry the load yet, Cincinnati has a average rushing defense and to me it seems McGahee gets all the payday touches, and McCoy will definitely be splitting touches.
I would take Flacco @ Cincy. He has been consitant the whole year. They are clicking and Cincy's defense won't put up much of a fight in my opinion. I have Brady in one my leagues and he has been a crap shoot the past few games. Not to mention Moss is going up against Champ Bailey this week which doesn't make anything easier for the Patriots. They are definitely not the Patriots of a few years ago.
In my big money league I finally had to pull the trigger. it might be a bit too soon but i just couldn't carry on dead weight and had to drop Dawayne Bowe for Sim's Walker. I have Vincent Jackson, Steve Smith (NY), DeSean Jackson, Tony Gonzales and now Sim's Walker. We don't have a TE position so they can be used as a WR in this league. I know Bowe has upside but to be honest I don't see the Chiefs doing anything this year and he is so hit or miss. Sims-Walker has a lot easier schedule and the Jags are really showing they can throw the ball. Did I make a mistake? I thought about dropping Gonzo instead but he's too damn consitant week in and out for me to drop and he will probably be a bench guy since I can only start 3 receivers or 4 if i want to flex one of them.
No, I don't think so esp after the game Sim's Walker had last week. I wouldn't trust a Chiefs player bc they just don't move the ball enough. At least with the Jags, you know that MJD can keep the chains moving, therefore giving them more trips to the redzone.
Orton has looked to Marshall a lot the last 2 weeks. I'd go with him. Good point on Harvin vs. STL, but I'd still go w/Marshall, esp. considering how often Favre hit Rice and Berrian last week....Berrian looks like he's back. And I'd go Mendenhall. (You saw my TD Survivor pick) I doubt Parker will play...and if he does, I don't think he'll get much (therefore, why risk playing at all against the Lions?)
can't bench Brady imo. Even with Flacco performing as well as he has. But I expect Brady to break out at some point and then have a great year...some people don't think that'll happen
Need some advice guys. For my flex postion, I can start a RB/WR so I have it narrowed down to Willis Mcgahee against Cincy or Steve Smith (NYG) against Oakland. I can't start Smith in one of my standard WR slots because I already have two studs Andre Johnson and Calvin Johnson. Smith would probably be a no brainer here in the flex, but they are playing Oakland and Eli isn't healthy. I don't think they will have to throw much, should pound the running game, and also if David Carr is in, I have no faith in him getting the ball to my receiver. I'm torn. What do you guys think?
