This is a tough one. I don't really know who I want to win. On one hand we win , move closer to our first potential +500 season (whoop dee doo) and probably make very few off-season changes. On the other hand we lose , improve our draft position, and increase the likeliness of a major shakeup/coach change etc. Hate to cheer against my team, but also can't stand to watch them flounder in mediocrity for another year...
The Texans have enough draft picks, they need belief, they need leadership, they need confidence. That comes with winning. This team has deep playoff talent, but they don't play like it. They just need to win, and develop that belief that they are winners... DD
True DD, winning does breed winning, but so does talent. I think new faces would make a bigger impact than the confidence from some practically valueless wins. I hope the Texans still play their hearts out and I hope they do win, but I feel like I can finally be comfortable if they lose.
They have the talent, plenty of it, what they don't have is focus, planning, leadership and belief. Teams like this seem to magically get it one day, if they have the proper coaching and leadership on the field. This team is primed to win, they just need to do it, stop putting it in the hands of the kicker so often and go out and smack some other teams in the mouth. They have VERY good talent......better coaching would help, and better on field leadership would too. DD
I hear you DD, we definitely have a leadership, or at least late game decision making problems. Are you saying Kubiak needs to go? If so, which do we want? --Win out and make ourselves look more attractive to interested coaches... --Lose out to all but assure Kubiak gets the boot
deep playoff talent? 3/4 of their defensive line and 3/4 of their secondary should not be starting on an nfl team
Honestly Kubiak needs to coach when he is up, like he is down....just go for it...stop nutting up and making it easier on opponents to come back by going ultra conservative. If you think Matt Schaub is the guy, then unleash him....if he is the key, then ride him and play to his strengths... Keep the defense off the field as much as possible and when they are on the field, let them play an aggressive attacking style of defense. This team is CLOSER than some people think....they are an 11-5 team talent wise. DD
Same thing that Tony Dungy says. We're a "confidence piece" away from being a true contender, and that this team doesn't realize how good it can be. I'm not sure I buy that second part, the guys who are interviewed a lot, Schaub, Johnson, Winston, Ryans, Robinson, and Pollard, all seem to think they're losing games they're not supposed to. It just comes down to execution, something that the Texans are sorely lacking in - especially when it counts the most!
Is that like the third time the Texans have started a game with a bomb to Andre? This time it worked. Nice.
