Not sure in what order of wins and losses it will be, but I predict the Texans to beat Seattle, get our hopes up a little and just miss the playoffs when all is said and done. Probably will end up at 8-8 however 9-7 would make it even more apropro so that there can be just enough angst about firing Kubiak.
Knowing our luck, we'll end up tied with Jacksonville for the final spot with the same record, of course losing the tiebreaker.
DVR is the best invention ever made besides TV and refrigeration. I will watch the rockets game first, then the texans game. A whole sunday watching my two favorite teams!!! My wife will just be thrilled about that one..
Kind of hard to imagine you "loving" anything the Texans do since you continually profess your non-fan status.
Meh, I am a complex critter....I like for Houston sports to do well, and it would be nice for the Texans to have a winning year. I am not a fan of them per se, but I am a fan of Houston in general.....because of the Rox and Stros. DD
Fandom has to be EARNED Everytime they have a chance to earn some Fandom . . .they whiff. yea. . .half of fandom is showing up . . the other half is actually DOING SOMETHING I want the Texans to succeed but I would not say I am a fan per se Rocket River
BWAAAAHHHHH !!! Wrong answer !!!! The Oilers made a financial decision, the city made a financial decision..... Stuff happens....too bad too, because the Titans franchise is better. DD
Yeah, the city decided it wasn't "fan" enough to pay for a new stadium. So "BWAAAAAHHHH!!!!" yourself.
Texans will probably win out and be the last team to not make the playoffs. Thus they will screw up a chance at a better draft position, still not make the playoffs, and ensure a Kubiak improvement since we still end up with the best record in team history. Such is life for a Houston sports fan.
It must be nice to live in Austin and have no real loyalty to any team. Yes DD we know you love the Rockets. But if the Rockets left the city and we gotta new franchise.. I would only root for the new team and forget about the Rockets franchise in a heartbeat. I root for teams with the name HOUSTON. Period.
Frankly, I am not in the mood for meaningless wins: Go Seahawks, give us a new coaching staff and some new players. I can't stand another year of this.
Cut DD some slack here. At least he's being honest and up front about how he feels about the Texans. Just because you live and die on the "battle-red" koolaid doesn't mean that the rest of the world has to do the same. DD is a lot like me in that I grew up in Houston as well but living, bleeding and dying with the gross incompetence and ineptness of Bud Adams' ownership of the Oilers destroyed my ability to feel the same passion that you and others now feel. I learned a valuable lesson from Bud (and also from John McMullen about the Astros): Loyalty to any team MUST be earned and to be a true fan of any team requires one to possess a blind, undying faith in that team and that organization. Once that faith is lost - once one ceases to believe - any emotional link to that team is also lost perhaps for good. For all the good things that McNair did to bring pro football back to Houston, he failed miserably in understanding the lessons of history left behind by Bud Adams. And by doing so, he managed to recreate the Houston Oiler experiences from my childhood. It a real shame too because football fans in Houston have been waiting 16 years now and counting for a team that will justify their faith in it. It's no wonder that guys like DD and myself feel the way that we do because we've seen this act play out many times before under the guise of Houston pro football. BTW, Texans will win tomorrow. Seahawks are a disaster area.
I'm kinda with you but not really. A loss against the Seahawks/Rams would make the HC position less desirable. A win against either the Dolphins/Pats would be a meaningless win imo. If Mcnair stands by his word, Kubiak should be gone if we end up 8-8.
