I'm fine with the notion of "pedigree" inflating expectations, but I never saw the translatable talent in Scoot being worthy of a high draft choice. Still don't. He doesn't have just one thing to fix. He is clearly above-average in nothing.

I see a journeyman NBA player who probably peaked 2-3 years ago relative to his age group.

He is now listed at 6'3"....did he grow 3 " over the year.

He still can't shoot, but if he works hard, he will eventually get it and become decent to good, but will never be all that he was expected to be by the pre-draft -experts ( I say that very loosely).

Even I thought he should go no 2 and I had him below Amen, Miller and Ausar lol. I thought he would be an instant impact player, be the favorite for ROY and then get lapped over by everyone else as they all developed and grew up while he gets all sorts of injuries due to genetics and his play style.

IMO combination of going to GLeague for 3 yrs and learning nothing as well as being a 6'1 midget with trex arms did him in.

In retrospect GLeague set back so many players not because of competition, but rather there was zero to none skills development. Nobody developed their bball IQ or learned how to shoot lol whats up with that?

Watch some G League games and you'll have your answer.

The G league is barely structured basketball, players are MUCH better off going to college if only for one season than wasting their time in the G League. Players are more likely to learn bad habits in the G League than they are to develop ANY of their skills.
