Its not that hilarious... especially when you recollect that Kubiak had a HUGE role on the offensive game-plans (and was the primary play-caller) on those Shanahan-coached Broncos SB teams. I'd also venture to say that Kubiak has had more success without Shannahan (especially when you consider what Kubiak took over in Houston) vs. what Shanahan had been able to do without Kubiak (we also see a similar offensive regression in Baltimore this year since Gary left). That being said, this is about BOB and how he fits "this" organization going forward. Kubiak had a good tenure here... and pretty sure both sides realized it was time to move on. Both have the ability to be leaders of men for the "right" teams.
As far as the coaches hired before last year, Zimmer and OBrien are both tops at 15-12. You can argue who inherited the better roster and tougher division. Zimmer had a season without AP which is about equivalent to the time the Texans had without Arian. I think both coaches have done a decent job. Definitely better than Gruden, Lovie, and Whisenhunt.
