Texans 23 ain'ts 21 Can we get the big three to do some damage early in the contest this time? What's the report on Foster, Schaub, Johnson? I never thought that was a big deal... since they are not actually the same teams facing each other at both games. I could probably support that argument or complain about that if the teams met in the first or second week of the season... but now that you mention it... they'll meet again in about one month. That's a valid argument, I guess. Different venues is OK, I guess?
Also sounding like Kubiak is getting a little tired of Tate missing time... Is it me or is Kubiak a little more willing to (sort of) call out some players this year? I mean, I don't expect (or want) him to throw anyone under the bus via the media or anything, but it seems like his days of just saying everyone is "battle-fighting" may be over. Or maybe we all just made too much of it last year. When I went to practice last week, he was shaking his head and scowling pretty much the entire time and even got in a couple of UDFA receivers faces for missing blocks on running plays.
I'm going to defend Kubiak here (/Ric faints). The media face of Kubiak as the ardent defender of his players who is always even keel is definitely not who he is. He gets in the faces of players all the time. He yells down players in practice. He's a touch coach. But, he defends them in the media and believes in "happens in the family, stays in the family."
I think this is why players like playing for him. He keeps things very tight among the group as far as what information gets out but also makes it clear that anybody who doesn't work hard and/or puts themselves over the team (see Pollard, Bernard and Robinson, Dunta) is not going to be around long. He has that part down (dealing with the players), if only he could improve his in game decision making and game management.
Tate says he is going to play, Foster, Cushing, and Foster I think is going to play. I think Demeco Ryans will sit out and Slaton is doubtful. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/7702734.html
The more I look into it, the more I like Lestar Jean. Seems like a great kid, he catches everything, and he's big. I want to see what he can do with Schaub. Anyone else see a little bit of Plaxico in him (hopefully minus the off-field problems)? I would be thrilled at this point with a receiving corps of Andre-Walter-Jacoby- Jean-Dickerson
looking forward to seeing Tate. I hope he 1) comes out healthy and 2) actually shows some of his talent. The dude has big play ability.
alright who wants to go to this game? I have 2 tickets on sale for only $20 dollars each ($40 total). As you can tell I'm desperately trying to get rid of them. Original cost is $47 bucks each. It's section 632 row P. Edit: Tickets given away already
I'd love to see video of Kubes getting in a player's face. Even during the open practices he was usually 15-20 yards away from any player, just looking at his clipboard or talking to another coach.
so there has to be video of him getting in people's faces for you to believe it? I've routinely heard that kubes will get onto players at times. I'm sure he picks his spots and i'm not sure the ideal time would be in the week or so of practices during open practices.
Believe me, it happens. Not often though, and probably less during open practices. If Kubiak is in your face during practice instead of the position coach or coordinator, you can probably expect to be in the doghouse for a while.
I'd just love to see an emotion out of the head coach that isn't the reserved surrender that I was used to hearing in post game conferences. Don't get me wrong, I don't think anyone would want their coach as boisterous as Rex Ryan or Josh McD.
I really don't care how the coaches act, i think way to much is put into that kind of stuff. I mean if you're going to knock him do it for legitimate reasons for not winning games, e.g. time management, spotty play calling, etc...not for how much he yells.
