I'm trying my hardest to keep my expectations for the texans this seasons grounded. Even though it seems like the pieces are in place.
Great game. Little bit worried about our run defense up the middle, but hopefully a healthy Demeco and Cushing together fixes that. Earl Mitchell was thrown around by the Saints interior line on a few plays. Kubes is going to have to find a way to get Reed on the field during the regular season. Wonder if Barwin's starting spot is in jeopardy.
Yeah I haven't heard Barwin's name much in the 2 preseason games, if Reed keeps impressing that spot maybe a platoon of him and Barwin.
This or Mario moves back to DE. The move to OLB never made sense to me in the first place. I know its early and I hope his play improves but he always seemed like a natural at DE. Hell, Bruce Smith put up huge numbers in a 3-4 so please don't tell me playing DE is a waste of his talents, all it takes is a little creativity and Mario will be just fine at DE.
I expect him to see more DE next week. I heard Watt could play inside when we drafted him. If Reed plays like he did today you can't have him on the bench especially on 3rd and long.
Just got back from the game, I wasn't paying a ton of attention, but do our special teams really suck this bad again?
Outside of Tate, Reed, Foster, AJ, and Schaub, I really like what the Texans can do with Casey as a FB/TE he is a beast and make things happen when he is on the field. I was worried about him at first but him being so versatile you have to him on the field.
I starting to wonder how Marciano has been able to make it all 10 years with the Texans. Part of the problem is with the returners. I get why they were trying to use Demps and Townsel last week, because that's the only way they're going to make the team. Keo barely returned kicks at Idaho and was mediocre at that. They just drafted him, he's going to be on the team regardless. Manning has been returning kicks for 3 years. You'd think they'd put him back there. I guess they don't want added risk of injury in the preseason? But that's only half the problem, because our blockers aren't doing a very good job either. And on the other side, we're giving up 30 yards a return. Outside of Rackers, or special teams are a mess. We were bad last year and right now we look even worse. I guess we can never count on trying to excel in all 3 areas. If our defense improves and our offense stays consistent, I guess it's a law of nature says our special teams have pick up the slack and suck extra hard.
man, i had some Saints fans sitting behind me. God were they annoying. Not talking **** annoying, but were screaming loud for no reason. Well, they were cheering the Saints but it was obnoxious. Just shrieks and scream, like we were at a Beiber concert.
Ok, I just stayed up till 3 watching the first half. Our offense looks absolutely unstoppable. Foster and AJ, with OD and Casey in the seams? Walter and Jacoby are looking pretty solid too, and the Oline is opening up some monstrous holes. Not much dropoff from Foster to Tate either. It doesn't seem fair, really. Quin is looking good too. Better than Manning, even. I really want to see Joseph play. Too bad we wont see any elite receivers until the regular season starts. No way Tate stays behind Ward, not after this performance. Casey looks legit at FB too.
