Washington wouldn't bite unless you add a couple first round picks and a couple first round swaps.

Being a black man is something that he "cherishes"? That is so weird.... who the hell cherishes their gender or the race/ethnicity they are born? It doesn't bother me, I just find the word choice very odd, but then again, Westbrook is odd.

I would say he is proud of his roots, probably came across weirdly.

Undergoing a 'strenuous' history doesn't mean he can't proudly show who his ancestors were though.

Identity which also encompasses his skin color.

Pride before the fall folks. Being proud of the color of your skin or the color of your hair or eyes or that your family came from China , Africa, Ireland, Middle East, etc is just, let me pick my words carefully here. . . .stupid!

Russ is saying that he is proud to be a black man in a world where black men are constantly looked down upon and viewed as lesser. What is the problem?

Not to turn this into a D&D topic, but not long ago it wasn't a great time to be black (it's still not great). Having pride being a black is not weird when very recently that pride was beaten out of you.

It's not weird or stupid to be proud of being black. It's how a disadvantaged or marginalized people affirm themselves. Ever heard of deaf people who are proud of their sign language culture? I actually have a lot of respect for that kind of pride. Of course, it can become too extreme and turn into something dangerous. Any identity pride can become extreme and dangerous.
