Baseball is also stupid. Last time they had a guy on 2B they hit a ball that was a routine out until it hit 2B and turned into a double. We have a guy on 2B and Paredes hits one 100 mph right st their 3B. He doesn’t have to move. And then people can’t deal with “it’s sometimes just dumbass luck” and they invent a narrative around it.
This team is getting pretty stale. The pitching is good enough. The hitting is just bad. There is no one scary in the line up without Alvarez healthy and hitting. They desperately need to trade for another very good bat and don’t seem inclined to at all. When they signed Walker they knew he was really a 6 hole hitter but have him hitting 4th. Their manager is mediocre at absolute best and their MLB coaching staff that Espada wanted is mostly guys with low IQ’s. It’s a bad combo when your manager and his top coaches are below average intelligence. Either commit to getting a bat or trade guys like Valdez, Hader, Caratini, Meyers and Dubon.
If they really thought Walker was a 6 hole hitter, then they shouldn’t have paid him $20M a year given he plays 1B. That being said, he hit 4th all last season on the team that scored the most runs in baseball. If he was hitting like he did last year and Yordan was as well, this team would be 6+ games over .500 right now. We wouldn’t even be having this conversation.
