Absolutely nailed it here IMO. And, it keeps happening OVER & OVER again...same scenario...SP starts showing serious stress/exhaustion and Dusty pushes to try to get that last inning (6th normally). Tonight was 3 runs. The guy never learns.... he's the guy that tries the same thing over and over again, everytime thinking this will be the time it works...and...it doesn't.
Strangely enough, we all now know what it feels like to be Yankee fans. Last year is never good enough!
hard to fault Baker when Valdez had just went four HITLESS innings. After he hit two batters he got Maton up but I get sending Valdez back out it’s unfortunate that Valdez is such a ****ing head case this year, and a ****ing rollercoaster. He needs to always throw to first, he’s got to be at the bottom in fielding……
Like I said, a manager needs to have the ability to motivate/push his players and give his team the best opportunity to win with the best lineup. Defense was sloppy as fck today. Astros could've won this game if Dusty haven't done his usual bullsht forcing Valdez to come out in the 6th inning. Miniscule decisions like that from a manager can win/lose a game.
To be honest, the only way for the Astros to make the post season at this point would be for ownership to fire Baker for Joe Espada as interim coach. I bet this team suddenly starts playing hard again.
He had gone four hitless innings AFTER giving up 4 in the 1st. He hit 2 batters as you mentioned and ended up giving up 3 runs ( 2 earned). I don't know...some times you need to get up from the table while you're ahead. Those 3 runs ended up being the difference. Framber has been good about getting into even the 7th but pushed too far IMO. Worst case...he should have never gotten to hit a 2nd batter.Agree about throwing to 1st ALL THE TIME.
So I just woke up to see the result. Seems like Maldy worked his magic and kept Framber cool, calm and collected?
A Rangers sweep is probably not a bad result now considering their ability to lose road games. I would’ve preferred an Astros sweep and a 2-1 Rangers series, but now I think we might have to root for the Rangers sweep and pray the Astros can win this series.
We have given up 4,5 runs and more with striking regularity this month. The average runs surrendered in loses is shocking. a lot of these leads have come VERY EARLY which stresses the offense as well IMO. If there is any urgency anywhere I haven't noticed it. Just among the 2 worst teams in baseball we had the opportunity to have a nice lead at this point. Just a near total collapse...horrendous pitching, fielding and lack of clutch hitting...and throw managing at the top.
