Yordan was **** in our last World Series (maybe both of them?) and pretty lousy overall in 2019 playoffs. Bregman hasn't had a good last 2 playoffs as I recall. Post season baseball is really small sample size, and making it even smaller sample size by ignoring the first 2 rounds even more so. Carlos has a career 850 OPS. That's plenty good enough. Springer has a career OPS in the playoffs of 895. Springers career OPS is 853. Correas is 835. I don't buy the idea that some guys are "more clutch" b/c that would seem to imply they aren't really trying throughout the bulk of their regular season, but those numbers do demonstrate that 1) the moment didn't get to big for either of them and 2) they can hit good pitching and aren't just mistake hitters. If you can say the same about the two kids then that's a good deal.
Yordan was amazing in the 2021 ALCS, and really good in the 2019 WS, he was terrible in the 2021 WS and 2019 ALCS He's got a career postseason OPS of .843, but that's really dragged down by that 2019 ALCS.
He's been streaky so far, but I'm optimistic he can perform throughout this year. Sometimes it's just a matter of seasoning and experience. Tuve was dreadful in 2015 and basically vowed to change that. That being said, Yordan has already shown his potential to explode and change entire series', and he's on another level this year. I just really hope he doesn't do the homerun derby. I don't understand the infatuation with it. The only thing important is winning, period. That does nothing for it.
I'll go one better. I wouldn't participate in the All Star Events at all with the shortened off days with the Double Header scheduled 2 days after the game. I'm still mad about last year's All Star Shenanigans. Just call Manfred and say thanks, but no thanks unless you move it to GEORGIA and stop interfering with the roofs.
Yeah our schedule is too brutal. I would be fine with them skipping out again this year with the schedule shenanigans after the break.
"Dusty Baker called it a “manager’s decision” to sit Yuli Gurriel and Jose Altuve today. Gurriel’s “legs are sore” because he’s been running a lot, Baker said. Altuve just needed a day off. Sounds routine." Just like to point out it says MANAGER'S DECISION here and not ordered by the training staff or front office.
The "young guns" lineup. Should be interesting. If KC can't beat the "Astro Babies" they need to hang it up.
And if he didn't play Diaz, it would be "Why does Dusty bench a guy the day after he goes 3-4 with a HR?"
I don't know how to imbed tweets, but Rome just tweeted no one is being allowed into the Astros clubhouse today due to what they call "multiple health and safety issues"
