Debatable if having Diaz's bat out of the lineup is perfection right now. Brantley has been in a slump lately so this might be the best lineup today.
Sounds like Diaz will be playing almost every day at one of the IF positions or LF. I have no problem with that.
Diaz hits LHPs a lot better than Brantley. With the Crawford boxes behind him, Diaz is a good move here. Diaz should be treated like a starter regarding playing time, except not knowing where he will play a given day or when his rest day is.

It's easy to convince Dusty to give an older player the day off before a day off, particularly a day game. I agree we have that luxury at the moment with at least one very good player (ERA+ over 100) having to sit every game now. We're back to 8 deep with occasional help from 9.
