Remember, no PBP in these threads and keep the chatter on topic (if it is about something other than this series, talk about it in another thread). 6-23 Zack Greinke, RHP (8-3, 1.96) vs. Russ Ortiz, RHP (3-2, 3.60) 7:05 on FSN 6-24 Luke Hochevar, RHP (2-3, 6.61) vs. Roy Oswalt, RHP (3-4, 4.48) 7:05 on FSN 6-25 Brian Bannister, RHP (5-4, 3.89) vs. Brian Moehler, RHP (4-4, 6.43) 1:05 on FSN
2/3 for another seriers win. Astros get steamrolled tonight. but Oswalt and Big Bad Brian Moehler get the job done.
Thursday's game is a 1:05pm start. business man special. break out the Saturday home unis with the red caps!
If Ortiz doesn't have a good outing, expect the club to give Bud Norris a shot. Even if Ortiz doesn't like it, he's far more valuable to this team in a long releif role than he is as a rotation starter.
i'm not sure i agree with any of this. seems like he's pitching the best of all of our "other" pitchers, yet getting the least fair shake. either way, he's getting at least one start after this even if he gets shelled, since hampton is on the 15-day dl. as discussed on and on, there's currently a gaping starting rotation spot available that they can insert norris into if they wanted to bring him up. whatever though...last call to get on the bandwagon, folks - our schedule heading into the allstar break has gotta be the easiest schedule in the league. we'll be 2 games back at worst (division or wildcard) when the break comes. i'm predicting a rare WWW.
one question... in the upcoming Nats resumption game, what are the roster rules for that? obviously these 2 teams won't have the same personnel, so what do they do? do they just have to scratch the burnt pitchers and players still with the team, and scratch however many other players were burnt that aren't with the team (if that applies)? also, what inning was it? seems like that would be a cool deal to attend. probably the closest we'll ever get to seeing double-header baseball in this town.
Nationals will have 1 out and a runner on first in the bottom of the 11th, so if he scores, it will be a quick first game. Any player on the roster who has not yet played, should be able to enter the game. Since Hawkins was pitching at the time of the suspension, it would make sense for him to continue pitching. Oswalt, Sampson, Byrdak and Geary were the other pitchers.
Seems to me like something similar happened before and one of the players had switched teams between the beginning and end of the game. Edit: If it did it didn't happen in the majors, but it is possible.
Nope. The Astros could theoretically trade the entire roster that was active in that game and have a whole new set of players to choose from for the resumption. Any player that is currently on the roster and has already subbed out of that game (e.g. Carlos Lee) cannot play. In addition, assume the Astros trade Blum to the Nationals prior to the game. Blum would be allowed to play for the Nationals even though he played for the Astros in the same game.
july 9th. we go into the break with 3 at home vs pitt, then 4 (5 with that game) vs. the nats. not sure what time they are planning on starting the suspended game though. anybody know?
Replace Ortiz with Backe. I'm still expecting that they give Bazardo a shot before Norris since he has some major league experience.
No. [rquoter]A player who was not with the club when the game was suspended may be used as a substitute, even if he has taken the place of a player no longer with the club who would not have been eligible because he had been removed from the lineup before the game was suspended.[/rquoter]
